Yeah yeah it was a great goal but I maintain that the defending was appauling. Beforehand and when he was controlling it on his chest...

Obs, did you see the second leg Colo-Colo?

Fernandez is the future, absolutely amazing. He will be the best player in the world.

Nah I didn't see the second leg; when was it on?

Daniel Agger will be the best player in the world.

It was on this morning. Colo-colo won 2-0, Fernandez scored both goal, the second was a perfect 30 yard free-kick into the top left-hand corner. He is now equal with Gago as my favourite young players.

    Sanchez started and played well.

When is Sanchez going to Udinese?

Anyways, Kaká wouldn't have scored that goal. He's not a flash bastard. He'd have headed the ball into the far corner and scored a far simpler goal. Rolling Eyes

@LSR: Talk about coincidences! Here's an article about the La Sexta trio during the Atletico-Sociedad game:
    http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=393896&root=europe&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab1pos1&cc=5901

@Obispo: You're saying the goal wasn't that great because the defending was crap, but can you please enlighten us all how exactly someone is supposed to defend a player when he expertly controls the ball close to his chest, turns 180 degrees and puts his entire body between the defender and the ball, and then hits a bicycle kick that the goalkeeper cannot see because the defender is in the way? Not to forget the quality of the chipped assist from Xavi in the first place.

    ok

I totallly agree, no defender would have been able to do much about this goal, except perhaps intercept the shot, but lets face it how many people expect somebody to do that.

My main gripe with the defending isn't shown in the video. There's a good 20 seconds (atleast) beforehand where Villarreal allowed the ball to be played across the length of their 18 yard box from one side of the pitch to the other. Then with the fact that Ronaldinho is given the space to begin with to control the pass; were they playing an offside trap? None of them were even looking where he was moving to.

Add in the fact that like FG pointed out that the defender didn't even try and intercept the kick which granted, wasn't expected, but could have been delt with had the defender got his body inbetween Ronaldinho and the goal instead of just looking on and admiring.

It just typified everything Villarreal did all night - they were far too happy to sit back and admire Barca, just like everyone else. They looked positively terrified of trying to win the ball after the penalty aswell.

I think Obispo's got a point. I mean, against a better defensive team, Ronnie would've just been man-marked out of the whole game, and would never have been able to do anything like that.

Keeper should have saved it too. Poor positioning.

And if the defender gets his body between Ronaldinho and the goal then it never happens.

Ronaldinho either takes it down and tries to skin him on the outside - narrowing the angle or running it out of play - or he ends up squaring it back to someone.

Theres no doubt it was poor defending in the build up play that allowed Xavi to put the ball in I think Cygan's positioning allows Ronaldinho to control the ball, but the fact remains its a beautiful execution, and id quite happily see players embarrass poor defending in such a flamboyant style.

The goal is amazing, and the defender cant do shit about it. If the defenders were shit all game, it does not really matter as the defending was fine here, this goal is pure genius.
