I read an article about Van Nilstelroy in which he was saying he already missed something like 3 penalties this year . Why are they letting him do that?

definitely angel. missed 2 in a match last season (or was it the one before) and got relieved of his duties before inexplicably started taking them again this season and missing a few more. fortunately barry's doing the business now

I don't know what has happened to RVN. He used to bang every single one in. Then Arsenal came to OT. Was never the same with PK after that.

He was pretty predictable...he nearly always went for power in the keepers bottom right...that might have been his problem.

Michael Owen.
For such a great finisher, he's a terrible penalty taker.

Only missed 3 this calender year. Hes a really reliable penalty taker usually for us.. missed two for england and only 2 for chelsea in his entire career. I'd take that any daysaintgoingmarching wrote:LAMPAAAAARRRRDDD!!!!

Re: Worst Penalty Takers
I always cringe when I see Gerrard stepping up to the spot if he's our penalty taker. I don't think he has any finessé when it comes down to penalties.
Don't think he's the worst by any means though. Probably Angel or Sheffield United in general.

Re: Worst Penalty Takers
Owen definitely, especially considering how good a finisher he is in open play. Owen never looks confident, RVN seems to lack confidence at the moment, but has scored lots of penalties in the past.

For Eto'o re: every single one of our starting 11.
I can't think of a single one of them I would trust; perhaps Kuyt. Perhaps.
Fowler on the otherhand...

Obispo, I was thinking exactly the same thing, but couldn't be arsed to type a reply.
However, Jesus saves, but Xabi scores on the rebound.

Despite all this though, we are the penalty KINGS. I think, but I'm not 100%, that we've only ever lost one penalty shoot out and that was in the early rounds of the league cup.
still wish we had a player who I could be certain would score from the spot though and get the odd freekick goal aswell... I want a 21 year old Fowler

Amen to that.
Can I put in a request for a 21-year-old Keegan, a 21-year-old Barnes, a 21-year-old Souness, and a 21-year-old Hansen while we're at it.
I'd had said a 21-year-old Molby but we've got Xabi

MOMO SISSOKO
Position: Midfielder
Date of Birth: 22/01/1985
DANIEL AGGER
Position: Defender
Date of Birth: 12/12/1984
... I can't really make genuine assumptions on the quality of Sourness and Hansen at 21 seen as all I've got to go on is tapes/dvds (granted, there are alot, but it's still not week-to-week stuff) but are Momo and Agger really that far behind at 20 and 21?

Hamman could look a crying orphan in the eyes then snap their neck without a second thought. I don't think he had any understanding of pressure. In that respect maybe it's worth giving Agger a go at a penalty next time we've got a comfortable lead in the game; he's got the same kind of detatchment from emotions that none of our other players seem to have.
There was one moment that summed up our penalty takers for me and it came when Gerrard was playing for England. Against Portugal, after Lampard missed the penalty, Gerrard just collapsed into someones shoulders and looked on the verge of tears - that isn't something that films me with confidence when a penalty comes our way.
I don't honestly think that Riise or Xabi would fair much better either sadly.
