Where exactly? LRD after his little rant perhaps. I'm not the one calling people twats for no reason though, am I.

Was I referring to you in particular? The fact that FF couldn't help himself with a Liverpool dig tends to prove my point, does it not?

Not this one. I was saying that Lyon were not the best team in europe.

I was taking the piss because u like treating people like shit.

Well, I'm sorry, u often do. Just check the language you use. Pretty arrogant.

    Yes you were.
Anyway you are entitled to have your own opinions. But don't get surprised if people start whining at u.

Maybe when get past the quater finals I'll change my mind. Until then, why should I? Fuck sakes, with all due respect, even Recreativo just took apart Madrid. It's hardly an impressive feat.

BTW, i don't thin Lyon are Europe's best at all but that they've been producing the best football last year and this year so far in the CL... Doesn't mean anything in terms of results...

Best or most effective? Surely "best" is subjective.

I'm personally not a big fan of the way Lyon play though I can understand why others enjoy them. It's the same as United really. I don't like the "Pass it out wide and gain 40 yards through a speedy winger" approach to the game, though obviously some people find it exciting.

Lyon are so much more than that though Obispo. They can score all types of goals, and they can adapt their style to match any team. They very rarely actually pass it to Malouda to get round the side and cross anymore, they try and steamroll through the middle, because then they can have Tiago, Juninho or Kallstrom to bang one in.

Lyon for me are better than Arsenal and Liverpool, probably better in Europe than United (after all, they lost to Celtic), and inferior to Chelsea and Barça.

    "Shit League".

    Very naive.

You look at the results Monaco had v Real and Chelsea, Marseilles v Newcastle, Liverpool, Lille v Man U, Marseilles v Bolton and that's very daft.

PSG (Landreau, Yepes, Rozehnal, Rothen, Kalou, Pauleta), Monaco (Roma, Givet, Yaya Toure, Plasil, Di Vaio, Koller, Menez) and Nantes are all struggling near the foot of the table - you reckon teams like WHU, 'boro and Man City are any better than these teams ?

Look at Drogba and Essien (arguably the best players in our league right now) - Adebayor, Evra - Diarra a star in La Liga.

There are more stars waiting in Ligue 1.

I reckon Chelsea are prob better than Lyon - Liverpool, Arsenal about equal - Man U inferior.

It doesn't say much for the "best league in the world" when Man U can top it.

Pierre..you like Ligue 1 so your view will be biased...If it really was a good league then why are Lyon already 17 points clear isit? and have won it year after year....

2nd..yep West Ham,Man City and Boro are better than these teams..just because Watford cant hack the premiership doesnt mean the other teams are shit...

And why the dig at Man Utd?? they have been by far the best team in the league...and yet if "a team like United" can top it when Chelsea have all the money/players they need...doesnt that say something about the league??

French teams own English teams every time they play each other. As Bolton learned the hard way.

The fact is the Frecnh league is much more competitive below Lyon than any other league - which is why they drop so many points.

Lyon are one of the 5 best teams in Europe and if any one can't see that then they are blind, i don't it when people say they are over-rated in Europe just because they have haven't got pass the QF's stage yet most of these same people are saying inter (who have been shit in Europe in forever and can are win a league without any real competition) are one of the fav... to win the entire thing.

I feel the comparisons are ridiculous, Liverpool beat Chelsea not so long ago then went on the win the Champions League, yet Chelsea dominated the league, knockout competition is such a gamble, anything can happen.

Anyone could beat anyone in a one off, but in a league, Lyon in the Premiership wouldn't have the depth to compete for the title, 4,5th place would be my estimation.

The premiership is better than the League 1, there's no doubt about that. It attracts better players and financially it's a paradise for players and it's also the most watched league in the world.
As to include Lyon in the premiership it's a quite difficult thing to do. The French league is poor mainly because there are no teams able to compete against Lyon. But the league itself is ranked fourth, after Spain, England, and Italy, so it's not that bad.
I think the main problem is that the other big clubs are too inconsistant. They have quality players but failed because they have shit coaches (who lack european experience).

The only good thing about the League1 beside Lyon, is that there are lots of very good promising young players. Instead of selling them for peanuts (i.e. Gourcuff 6 millions euros?!$#!), they should garanty them with competitive salaries. But no one except Lyon does this.

This is just a fucking joke designed to enlicit controversy. Rolling Eyes

Liverpool and Arsenal better then Man U? based on what? If you go far in the CL but do shit in the league you're still shit, you're just not good enough to concentrate on both. Arsenal were the fourth best team in the country last season and it wouldn't change even if they had won the CL.

The league is always the best barometer of quality for teams from the same country, not some short European competition where a large number of external factors has more impact.

Man U will make the QF at least, and I think Lyon won't go much further. They will get knocked out and everyone will go on about how they blew it mentally. No. They just aren't good enough ok

I would back us to beat them in a 1v1. They weren't much cop last time Rolling Eyes

lyon has been made to look way better then their competetors when in reality they arent miles away from the others. the others are just SOO inconsisten it is crazy. one season monaco was ahead with 9 points at one point and let it slip.lyon are the best side in france but they have had it too easy in the league. man utd still have something to prove in europe so hard to say but they are better.

The only difference between France and England is that France have a big one and we have a big four.

The other 19 French teams and 16 English teams are of a similar quality IMO.

@ Festive Genius - lack of depth ?!?!

Chelsea and Barca (rightly or wrongly) are regarded as having best teams but prob only Inter have a better squad than Lyon.

I think they'd finish 2nd or 3rd in Prem as they are v.good at grinding out results when not playing well.

    ?????

Coupet + Vercoutre. Two excellent goalkeepers, Coupet probably the second best goalkeeper in the world.

RB: Clerc and Reveillère: Both French internationals
CB: Cris + Squillacci= Cris is one of the best defenders in the world and Squillaci is very good too.
CB: Cacapa + Muller = Very experienced players, rarely make mistakes.
LB: Berthod + Abidal - Abidal is the best LB in the world, Berthod is a French youth international.
DMF: Toulalan, Diarra = Two French internationals, both Makelele's designated sucessors.
AMF: Juninho, Tiago, Kallstrom: The real shame is that one of those three is on the bench. All of them are excellent.
RMF: Govou, Wiltord- Well Govou, on form is close to being as good as Ronaldo. Wiltord is still decisive
LMF: Malouda, Ben Arfa: Malouda can, on form, be the best winger in the world. Ben Arfa is finally starting to show why people dubbed him the next Zidane
CF: Carew, Benzema, Fred: Three great players, all capable of great things.

So it's not squad depth they're lacking. Or talent.

My god. They are better then I thought! Laughing
