Milan close in on Cassano - reports
    Thursday 28 December, 2006
Antonio Cassano is close to joining Milan on a loan deal in January, according to the latest reports in Spain.

The Bari-born striker is near to ending his unfortunate adventure with the Galacticos and Rossoneri officials are allegedly in Madrid to finalise the details of the deal which would bring the former Azzurri man to the San Siro.

The Spanish giants do not intend to accept the player’s indiscipline any longer and are willing to accept less than the £3.5m invested in January to bring the striker to the Santiago Bernabeu.

If the two clubs should reach an agreement, Cassano might move immediately to Milan on a loan deal until the end of the season, with an option to buy him for £3.2m at the end of the term.

The only obstacle which might now prevent the transfer could be represented by Real Madrid’s repeated attempts to bring Kaka to Spain. If the Merengues were to ask for an option on the Brazilian player to be included in the agreement the negotiation would be interrupted.

In the meantime, Leandro Grimi is expected to land in Milan on Thursday, where he will sign a five-year contract.

The 21-year-old Argentine, who arrives with the added bonus of an EU passport, grew up in the Huracan youth team before moving to Racing Avellaneda this year, when he was voted as the best young player in the Apertura tournament.

“Joining an important club like Milan is a dream come true, I am very happy,” stated Grimi before leaving Argentina.

I think the transfer would be good for both cassano and Milan, I always liked Cassano in Serie A, moving to La Liga was clearly a mistake

I dont understand these players with bad attitudes,

they're getting payed thousands a week, loved and known by so many people, they have fun for a living, yet they go about the job the wrong way

I don't think moving to La Liga had anything to do with it. He was given every chance to succeed by Madrid and he simply blew it. He had a great pre-season with the team, becoming one of the best players. This lead to Capello putting him on the starting lineup at the beginning of the season. When he got relegated to the bench after mediocre performances, instead of working hard to get his place back he just gained weight again and behaved like a prat. Every sub appearance he's had since he got benched has been awful as well.

I've been one of Cassano's strongest supporters since he got to Madrid. I'm a big fan of his and I know he can be a success in any club in the world, but even I'm fed up with him. It doesn't matter in which league he plays if he doesn't change his attitude.

They do get a lot of things right. The problem is that they tend to over exaggerate most rumors/potential transfers. The same goes for AS.

Yep personally I didn't want Cassano to join Real because I wanted him to stay in serie A because I love him, I love watching him! I am also one of his biggest fans, but his attitude has started to annoy me! It's sad because he has such great potential, yet he throws it away with his shit attitude!
If he comes to Milan i think it will be great, and I hope Ancellotti gives him two fat slaps before and hopefully he will come down to earth! If he does come then I really hope Lippi comes because Lippi knows how to control him!

as torrente i was very happy when he came but he failed to deliver.he has attitude problems but i think that if real madrid were working better then he would have been a succes.he just came at the wrong time.going back to italy and milan could be the solution and i think he could work well with kaka.i really hope he can change so that he can get into the italy squad again.

He's exciting, talented, and not fit enough to play football.
    -Newcastle.

(He would be mad to go to the Premiership, I hope he sorts himself out in Italy)

    ok

When he was at Roma and it looked like his career was hitting a brick wall, it was like the situation van Persie was in at Feyenoord. Lokk at him now, one of the most inform players in Europe.

The same could also be said of Adebayor. Cassano was brilliant at Bari, his attitude has cost him dearly.

Yes, he's made three appearances in the CL so he'd be cup-tied.

Anyhow, the sooner he leaves the better.
