Re: Thierry Henry
Top Class, but not World Class. For all my slating of him, he is a very athletic and composed player, but I'm not convinced he's done enough to join the elite. I might change my mind, but seeing as how he plays for Arsenal, it's unlikely.

I voted worldclass, cause his pace and dribbeling are worldclass. Still he should leave to give Rvp more room to grow.

At a guess...
Top class = best 50 players in the world.
World class = top 10/15

World class puts him amngst the best four or so strikers on the planet, top class I take to be amongst the top 100 or so players so probably top ten strikers

??? Push n run merchant. Maybe this counts as a great dribbler - I was having this conversation last night while watching MOTD2. I suppose all dribbling is simply about knowing how fast you can move with the ball and how far you let the ball get away from your feet related to how quick the defending players are, and where the space is...

World class. Form is temporary.
Can go missing in big games, but that probably has as much to do with him being a marked man than him being a choker.

Re: Thierry Henry
World Class.
One of the top 10 forwards around.
Still doesn't change the fact that he's a hypocritical, whinging, whining diva who prefers to stay in a small pond because he knows he wouldn't get away with that shitty attitude at a oceanic bigger club.
It Still doesn't change the fact that he's a knock & run player... which still means that he is very vunerable to dissapearing in a tight game where he can't use his pace half-as-much.
For a walk-on-water player, his goal record at Old trafford, Stamford Bridge & Anfield is quite shocking.
World Class, but does that make him capable of building the world in 6 days & resting on the 7th? Nada.

Re: Thierry Henry

On a different angle, i do always have the feeling that when he does a "good deed", he is merely doing it to use it as proof that he isnt an arrogant self centred bastard afterwrads. For example, when he let RVP take the penalty the other day, i think he already knew he was going to do it to prove a point...
And people say Arsenal fans hype up Henry...

My "world class" is reserved for those who come through in the fiercest of matches. For instance a forward who can't score one damn goal in CL league in three years is FAR from being "world class" let alone against the elite teams in CL.
Henry's a very good forward no doubt, but I don't like the fact that he hasn't done it consistently in the big time matches. It's NEWS when he scored against Real Madrid or against Brasil in the WC when Roberto Carlos decided to take a nap.
Henry's made a career of scoring lots of goals against the Fulhams, Blackburns, Middlesbroughs, Crystal Palaces...etc of the EPL, AND the media's jumped all over this hyping him up. Don't get me wrong, Henry's a very very good forward, but his dearth of goals against quality opposition is alarming.

Re: Thierry Henry
The dearth has been overplayed slightly and I think our failings in Europe were more to do with the fact that we just didn't have the right philosophy in Europe. Since Vieira's left that has changed though I think.
nowadays we adopt a much more patient approach in Europe. Fair play, he still doesn't score as many as he could but he does get marked a lot more harshly than a lot of other forwards.
Hes still the fourth highest all time scorer in the Champs League and Frances second highest all time scorer puro

His goals for France is similar to that of the ones in the EPL, from against quality of opposition point of view. Henry's a great footballer no doubt, but here's hoping he can score some in the KO rounds in CL. PSV come first, we shall see.

Re: Thierry Henry
Hes obviously been a worldclass player and still is, the problem for the Arsenal fans i envisage is that he isn't going to get any/much better, and as he loses his pace (one of his main assets hes no spring chicken anymore) his effectiveness will also deteriorate.

Re: Thierry Henry
World class.
Scored against almost all big teams he's played againt in europe, has a good scoring record against the the top 4 in the EPL, only a goal short of becoming France record goal scorer, 3rd highest scorer of the EPL behind shearer and cole, has 50 european goals to his name, the only forward/striker to score 20+ goals a season in the last 5 seasons, has more career goals than the likes of Sheva, trez, RVN etc despite not being an out and out striker.... need i say more?
