Re: Thierry Henry
Personally I couldn't give a shit about who's scored the most goals in KO stages or who's scored in finals, etc. I care about the manner in which a footballer plays the game.
Henry is a memorable footballer. He scores memorable goals. He makes the game interesting.

One of the top 10 forwards around.
Still doesn't change the fact that he's a hypocritical, whinging, whining diva who prefers to stay in a small pond because he knows he wouldn't get away with that shitty attitude at a oceanic bigger club.
It Still doesn't change the fact that he's a knock & run player... which still means that he is very vunerable to dissapearing in a tight game where he can't use his pace half-as-much.
For a walk-on-water player, his goal record at Old trafford, Stamford Bridge & Anfield is quite shocking.
World Class, but does that make him capable of building the world in 6 days & resting on the 7th? Nada.
Good post just about sums everything up TBH

Oh, and Davies would be more comparable to Berbatov & Mido...
For future reference.

That Davies deserves to bein the England squad far more than Defoe.

1) Nice to see a thread hijack that isn't a Liverpool-Man U rivalry;
2) I suspect the debate is not being moved materially forward at this point.

Well Tosser
The point is that Davies is mainly a battering Ram who commits more fouls than anyone in the EPL. Imagine how bad he'd look amongst those fussy Intl. refs?
Defoe has the guile to be a regular at Intl level.

I guess that the poll worked at least.
henry is in fact a world class player
I guess the ones that didn't vote that way were the "outliers" (i.e. the spurs, barcelona and manu fans )

I didn't vote, because of what Obi said.
There's not a option for "World Class, but not 25% as good as Arsenal fans would have you believe"

Well fool
The point is that Davies an offer something significantly different to the English team, something which Defoe doesn't. Defoe's your typical talentless speed freak.
Davies can actually offer a different style of play to the England team

The poll is not about what arsenal fans would have you believe.
It is about whether or not you think Henry is a world class player, which you have said that he is but you refuse to vote.

i voted world class. he get loads of goals loads of assists and is great to watch. he is a striker that has so many qualities to his game. He is a rare breed. i dont like strikers that only score goals. I.E Owen, Inzagi.

He is physically the bets footballer I've ever seen - no question.
He also has a good footballing brain which allows him to see things early.
Hasn't quite got the talent though - the feet can't quite match the brain.
At the end of the day he has 7 in 17 starts in KO phases of CL and 2 goals in 8 starts in KO phases of Intl tournaments - plus appauling record away to United, Liverpool and Chelsea and in Cup finals.
I will remember people like Ronaldo, Batistuta, Kluivert, Shevchenko, Eto'o (already) and Owen as better players.
No disgrace in that.
You're being silly now Pierre
4 games in Ko phases of Major International tournaments - 4 goals and 2 pens converted.
Dealt with Barca and Roma on your way to UEFA Cup win.
F.A. Cup final in 2001.
The most (possibly only?) World Class England player of his generation.
Its not how often you do it that counts - its when you do it, which is why players like these should be remembered as legends:
Funny how u knocked down henry's stats in the ko phase of the uefa cup( got 7 in 9 matches) but u are now using that same tournament to prove owen was world class

Who did Arsenal beat in the UEFA cup?
It might've something to do with it.
Roma were the leaders of Serie A (eeventually crowned Champions), and Barca is, well... Barca.

Re: Thierry Henry
@ TS
Defoe IS a very good player, what my problem with him is, is that he's not in my opinion England quality. I feel that he can mature as a player still but after the whole hype he got in his first full season at West ham and a few of his appearances at Spurs I feel that a little perspective is needed.
This season he has in fact been better through being less selfish, if he continues to improve like this then he may convinve me that he warrants wearing the England shirt. Sure I may have wound you up a bit by saying that Johnson is better than him but Johnson at least has had a season where he's been prolific even without the penalites.
