Milla Voted Best African Player In The Last 50 Years
Cameroon legend, Roger Milla, has been named as Africa’s best player in the last 50 years after a poll by followers of African football through the Caf website.
Milla polled a total of 2246 points to beat his closest challenger Mahmoud El-Khatib of Egypt, who secured 2165 points.
Milla won the African Footballer of the Year Award in 1976 and regained it in 1990, after he led Cameroon to the quarter-finals of the 1990 World Cup at the age of 38.
He became the oldest player to score a goal in the World Cup in 1994 when the Indomitable Lions lost 1-6 to Russia.
The Confederation of African Football also is planning several other events to mark its fiftieth anniversary celebrations next month.
