In buying matches on top of buying judges so they'd got rid of the competition beforehand ?

    .....yes, by a *large* margin.

Don't think so, Inter being the best team in Europe.

Serie A is below par this season. They need to prove something in Europe first.

Inter's stunning results and the fact that 4th placed Empoli have the lowest points per game ratio of any other 4th placed team there seems to indicate a lack in strength in depth.

I would have thought that Empoli's points-per-game ratio being so low would indicate that the Italian league is indeed very competitive. Showing that all teams are capable of taking points off each other. Thereby showing Inter's record as even more impressive.

OK, if you mean "equal" when you say "competitive" you are right. But "equal" does not equal "good". If all teams are so good, why are there such great differences between the first 3 and the rest?
Surely in a league where all teams are strong, the leader would not be so far ahead.

The French league is also very equal, apart from the first team.

Inter had played away to nearly all the top teams and won. No-one else in any other league has done that I would suspect.

So within their own legaue they have been outstanding, and as I said before the season started they would win it even without Milan's points deduction (loss of sheva, ageing defence, etc.). They have not done as well in the CL as expected, so they still have something to prove as to whether they are the best team in Europe but they are definitely up there.

Exactly right toon h, the only real way of judging how good Inter are is by their results against teams from other than the Italian league.
Which, if you look at this season, haven't until now been very impressive.

The Spanish league is the most exciting in terms of standings at the top at the moment. I think this can not be denied.

    1 Barcelona 18 - 38
    2 FC Sevilla 19 - 38
    3 Real Madrid 19 - 38
    4 Valencia 19 - 36
    5 Atlético Madrid 19 - 35
    6 Real Zaragoza 19 - 31
    7 Recreativo Huelva 19 - 30
    8 Getafe 19 - 29

all this within ten points of eachother.

Amazing. I think this year the superpowers are really failing. An imcompetent team like Atlético (unable to get consitency) this year is just 3 points from 1st place, so the others aren't that focused also...

By the end of January, the big teams should have enough gap from the other ones to let them face CL games with a concrete game plan. This way, they're living a final every 3 days...

It is flattering though. Sevilla are the only one you could argue that they've been playing to their potential.
Barca started with a big dip and lost important players.
Real needed/still needs time to integrate the squad properly after the major uphaul.

Now that Eto'o is coming back, I don't think there's alot of doubt that Barca won't win the primera.
