What he did was a foul, but the guy backed into him, if he didnt rooney wouldnt of touched him, in no way was that a red card.

I dont agree. Someone who had improved his behaviour so much, rarely gets booked these days etc, you are gonna send off for next to nothing to say that will teach you. That is ridiculous and wont help anyone.

To be honest, United have gotten away with so much over the years in English football, now it seems to be evening itself out.

Rooney's arm was still up around his head and it was out by about 4 foot, which tells you that the guy wasn't backing into him.
Has he really improved his behaviour much? When it gets tough and tense, does he really control his temper.
I hope he learns from this that continental refs won't allow you to jump with your arms 6 foot high.

I dont understand where we have? rio 8 months for missing a test, other players 5 for taking drugs. Even if we have, you cant be unfair and say this is evening itself out for something that happenend 10 years ago. I cant wait to see fergie's reaction

But we can't use these rules of evening things up. Otherwise the system will be pointless.
If Rooney deseves a 3 game ban fine.
For that (non)challenge he didn't. Simple as that.

I know what you mean, I was just saying because (lrd?) was implying that you get harshly bullied by the FA. I just think that these bans will make Rooney realise just what referees won't stand for.

Regarding Rio-drugs, he is very lucky. It should've been a 2 year ban (and would've been had he done it now the FA've signed up to the world anti-doping authority). Had Rio gone straight to the clinic and done a test (he says he forgot until later that day) then it would've been fine. Instead he waited 48 hours, (enough time for his system to clear) before doing anything about it.
Can you remind me who (in England) has received such a soft punishment for not turning up for drugs test/testing positive.
Dwayne Chambers has just come back from a 2 year ban. Xavier received 1 year-18 months right?
Plus Cantona should've been banned for life for his kick into the fan. You didn't concede a single penalty at home in the Prem for a whole decade, and your disciplinary was almost immaculate in the prem (yet in europe, where you weren't necessarily the top dog, you were getting booked/sent off players left right and centre)
Also, d'you remember when Stam, Keane, Beckham and co. followed Mike Riley up the pitch and were all screaming abuse in his face because they didn't like his decision. They should've all been banned for that imo.
The Solskjaer-Campbell incident was also very similar to the Robben-Reina situation, yet only the latter is ever talked about.

s4p this is not right imo. Rio everybody said is forgetful, he phoned to come back, but the guy had left. Stam many foreign players got between 4 and 6 months for actually taking drugs, plus some in england to a man city player, he got less than 2 months. Maybe he had a better excuse .
Xavier got his punishment after they upped everything.
The penalties thing is not true, we conceded 5 penalties, just 4 of them were missed, how is this our fault or bias, in recent years i cant tell you how many we havent got we should of.
I really never understood man utd always get the decisions the refs are scared, i thought more like the refs trying to make a name for themselves not giving us anything.
Neville getting fined for celebrating There is so many more, it is getting beyond a joke this f.a
Chambers diff sport diff rules at the time. cant compare please (at the time diff rules)

You mean like Chelsea against Fulham when the whole team surrounded the ref after a blatent red card from Gallas, that later inisghted violence amongst the fans?

dunno Bosnich.
Mutu (after Rio's fail) *had* to be 5 months because if it was 2 years - the message would be "it's better to 'accidentally' miss a test than to take one and fail it".

So 5 months for bosnich for taking drugs, 8 months for rio for forgetting to take a test. Which it's been gone over at the time but, if testers rarely ever come in, when they do and tell you in 3 hours then go off....... you quite possibly may forget.

=/
So how much should Mutu have got ?
Any more than 8months and it would have been easier for him to say he forget the test and get a lower ban.

TeamSpirit wrote:What were the punishments for Mutu and Mark Bosnich?

Mutu was banned for 7 months and this was done by the Italian FA I think. Bosnich was a similar ban, but his wasn't done by the FA though?
Anyhow, both had admitted that they were guilty of knowing what they were doing. Rio just tried to act like a thick sh*t and hey, it worked for him! (but in a totally different manner to the one he hoped for)
Indeed, imo, it was a real disgrace and maybe that's affected the reason why I don't rate Rio WC (also possibly due to the fact every time he c*cked up last season I said "Uh oh maybe he's on drugs again" you see? It gets him a reputation, which is why he should never be anywhere near England captain (What Man Utd do is up to them).
Indeed, had he done it now, it would've been 2 years, and although he has played well for England recently, it would've been no problem (Man Utd would just play Heinze CB, England either Carragher or King to fill his place, although I believe King is a better option than Rio, even if he did have a great world cup)

You are saying it is better to just completely miss a test? Please, don't try to defend Rio, he was an idiot. What sort of message would that deliver to little kids?
Indeed, I would've had no problem had Rio, later that evening (when he said he'd first realised) to go straight to the clinic and have a test (with his money, the clinic would easily open for him). Instead, not only does he then not go there the following day, he waits another entire day (around 48 hours after he realised, just about enough time to get it out of your system completely) before going for a check.

sorry I used to really like Rio, but then thought he turned into such a pr*ck (with all those girls he was banging with Keiron Dyer) and then the drugs scandal. I still don't think he should ever get the chance to be captain, but I guess I just judge him now on his social stupidity (like I do Dyer) than his talent.

I don't think he should be captain either btw.
I was just suprised he was never mentioned considering his performances at the World cup in comparison to some other players.

Indeed, I was one of the first to congratulate him on his performances this WC. (although I didn't think Terry was much worse, Rio was better)
Although I'd like him to have a more or less complete error free season (I know it's not possible to go error free, but some of his mistakes (imo, due to lack of concentration at times) really let him down). If he has a relatively solid season, then there'll be no doubt imo that he's world class, this is all that I think let's him down.

Whilst I agree the first half of the season wasn't his best, his form in the second half of the season was excellent.
I agree though, hopefully he will have a much better full SEASON.

Yep. The main problem was that he didnt hit dacourt properly. If you're going to get sent off, you might as well right-hook him properly and break his nose. Kezman's girly slap that didnt hurt him at all was a waste of time
Kezman was awesome that pre-season. Everyone on 606 was saying we got a total bargain
Still we sold him for a profit
