HSV sacks Doll...and doesn't hire Magath, but Stevens!

Now it's official. About three months too late Hamburger Sport Verein have fired coach Thomas Doll after only one(!) win in 19 league matches. With the latest 1-1 home draw against Cottbus, HSV had fallen to last in the Bundesliga standings. The club say they will present a new coach before Saturday's match against Hertha BSC.

why all clubs prefer german coaches, the most of them low quality

so take a risk and took an spanish guy or italien guy

1 win out of 19 games is indeed not good enough, and frankly after the winterbreak the team still did not look as if it had changed

the problem is, Magath is now going to destroy ALL young German talents at HSV

oh wait, HSV has NO German talents; so hipp hipp hurray, Magath can only destroy the young Dutch talents

not a hard fall for Magath at all though, is it ? some people have all the luck, even if they bring bad-luck

let's hope the Magath appointment is only until the end of the season; then bring in the young Aart van Iverson; a guy I met on holiday; youngish bloke , liked the Bundesliga and agreed that HSV in 1983 were a top team; I think he is made of the right stuff

Well it'll certainly make Magath look a decent manager, its not as though HSV have a bad squad, I reckon even I could have got better results out of them than Doll did

Dutchman Arie Haan has quit as Cameroon coach less than six months into a two-year contract, according to the country's official Cameroon Tribune daily.

The paper quoted Haan, whom national soccer federation FECAFOOT said went absent without leave for two months last year, as saying he had offered his resignation to FECAFOOT chief Jean Lambert Nang.

"I have decided as from this day the 31st of January 2007 to put an end to my collaboration with Cameroon. I have sent an email to Mr. Nang, the general manger of FECAFOOT, to inform him," the paper quoted Haan as saying.

Nang and other FECAFOOT officials could not be reached for immediate comment.

The Tribune said Haan was unhappy he had been left out of a delegation that was following Cameroon's youth team at an African junior championship.

He had also opposed a friendly match scheduled for February 7 against Togo, preferring to play a stronger team such as Ivory Coast.

Haan signed a two-year contract last August, charged with steering the Indomitable Lions through their qualifying campaign for the 2008 African Nations Cup in Ghana.

But relations with FECAFOOT quickly soured, and in December Nang said Haan had disappeared for two months in contravention of a contractual clause stipulating he must remain resident in Cameroon.

Magath going to HSV is not official.

Uli Hoeness said at Bayern's press conference today (responding to rumours that Magath would go to Hamburg) that he knew that Magath was taking the first flight to Hamburg in the morning. Then another journalist said that he'd already signed, to which Hoeness replied: "In that case I'm happy for Felix and we wish him all the best."

Somehow this was turned into 'Hoeness of all people confirms Magath's signing with the HSV'.

Very bad journalism.

I'm sure Hamburg and Magath are negotiating, but it's not a done deal.

Can he do a great job for them...? Okay, at Bayern he was at the end not very succesful anymore but Bayern are a different club than HSV.

It looks that way.

Though rumors are not yet confirmed, several media outlets published that Huub Stevens is set to be appointed coach of Hamburg.

So after Luhukay at Gladbach it appears that we will see another Dutch coach and withal a very familiar face again in the Bundesliga.

Stevens is waiting desperately for the telephone to hear if he can go to Hamburg. He already has his car keys in his hands...! He wants to leave as soon as possible his beloved Roda JC....!

Don't see the problem. Huub Stevens is a very capable manager. If so, excellent appointment.

And neither is there anything wrong with dutchies invading Bundesliga. We came, we saw and we conquered.

Thanks to global warming and rising sea levels the Netherlands will disappear anyway and all the Dutch will finally be Deutsch. Imagine our national team. We'll make immigration and nationalisation easy for you.

I'm sure Stevens will be able to save HSV from relegation.

HSV just needs to win FFS, only three wins will be enough for HSV to not be relegated in all honesty I think.

Don't forget they were pretty unlucky in quite a few matches. They have eleven or twelve draws and at least half of those could've been wins. In some games they hit the post two or three times.

Their confidence is completely shattered at the moment. Once they win a couple of matches they'll get it back and everything should be alright.

it is nice to see Effenberg acknowledge that the German national team would be greatly improved with the arrival of their western neighbours. Just imagine, the Dutch flair with the German efficiency.

Or else, imagine the German flair with the Dutch attitude.
