What azzurri starting XI would you like to see at Euro2008??

    ------------------Buffon
    Zambrotta - Nesta - Barzagli - Grosso
    -------------De Rossi - Pirlo
    Doni ------------Totti -----------Rosina
    ------------------Toni

    Second XI:

    ----------------De Sanctis
    Oddo - Materazzi - Cannavaro - Pasqual
    -------------Gattuso - Corini
    Perrotta-------Fiore -----------Di Michele
    ----------------Iaquinta

Can't see how to fit in Mesto, Miccoli, Chiellini, Tonneto, Camoranesi, Del Piero, Gilardino, Lucarelli, Bianchi, Liverani, Cassano, Montolivo, Acquilani, Rossi, Quagliarella, Di Natale, etc

Donadoni has his work cut out, but first he has to convince Totti, Italy needs him.

Doni? This smacks of just a little Deja vu from before the 2002 World Cup.

Corini is interesting, he'll be how old by then? I'm not saying he can't keep it up, but for someone with very little international experience, it's a big ask for them to join the scene in their late 30s.

Where are Rocchi and Mauri? If you're putting in one Brazilian born player in Taddei then you might aswell throw Amauri in there too.

    No mention of Montovilo? scratch

and personally i'd have Amelia ahead of De Sanctis despite his recent form drop

    Doh

I was thinking Tonneto and typed Taddei!

Rocchi, nah.... inspite of his stellar form, there are better strikers.

Corini - he is so damn good, infact I would put him ahead of pirlo... well, I hope Donadoni gives him his last hurray - he more than deserves it.

Montolivo - too untested, and si not getting that much playing time at Viola. Good bet for WC2010.

Amauri - if he takes up the azzurri offer, he can make the squad, definately on his form this season.

Looking at both line-ups, Italy should be one of the top favourites to win euro 2008.

Nah - we all know that "England have by far the strongest squad of any European nation", and that "The Italians don't have enough pace."

    Thank you, Alan Hansen Erm.

Yeah, as per talent they should be.... but there is still a good chance that they may not qualify!!!

Why did FIGC select a rookie (however talented as a manager, and however brilliant as a player) when theer were some excellent options (Prandelli, Spaletti, etc)???

No, they'll definitely qualify. They had a bad start because most of their players weren't match fit but i expect them to win most of their remaining matches which should see them through.

    We'll qualify...just a dodgy start thats all....

    Deano's Azzurri I

    ----------------Buffon-----------------

    Zambrotta----Nesta----Barzagli----Grosso

    Perrotta----De Rossi----Pirlo----Tonetto

    --------------Totti----Toni

*Maybe use the formation Bluey has with Totti in the middle infront of De Rossi and Pirlo...Perrotta and Tonetto either side ad Toni up front...

    Deano's Azzuri II

    -----------------De Sanctis-------------

    Oddo----Cannavaro----Terlizzi----Pasqual

Won't Del Piero be 50 or something in 2008. He won't got the physique to play that role

Deano, no Rosina?? Don't ya rate him??

I had an eye on this guy for a coupla years (had even posted on the old 606 MB on his prodigious talent), and I think he has met all my expectations this season. He is a live wire!

To be honest Bluenine I left him out because I haven't seen hardly anything at all of him...so it would be silly of me to stick him in...I've heard good things about him though and what I have seen of him he looks decent...I'll have to try and watch Torino a few times ok

You should watch him this saturday, live on sky or at wembley. More importantly, I hope Donadoni does - its high time his performances are rewarded with a call up to the senior squad! Italy needs Rosina for WC2010!

I would prefer Rocchi over Di Natale. At least this season!

But I know donadoni rates Di Natale very highly.

Donadoni's squad for the vital scotland qualifier:

    Buffon; Abbiati;
Zambrotta, Barzagli, Tonetto; Oddo, Cannavaro, Materazzi
Gattuso, De Rossi; Pirlo, Ambrosini; Camoranesi, Mauri, Perrotta
Quagliarella, Del Piero; Di Natale, Gilardino, Rocchi, Toni.

I am not too happy with this... the midfield could have been so much better.... Ambrosini? Camoranesi?? come'on!!!!

Temporarily, till he removes the metal from his ankle is the official version.

He is being a dick head, probably trying to show how much Italy miss him. Great player, silly man.

A good chance that Pazzini will be fast tracked to the full squad soon I would think.

Pazzini?? Little chance, first he needs to start making first team for his club, Fiorentina!!

Rosina, Montolivo, Aquilani, and Palladino will be the first azzurini stars to make senior squad, of course Chiellini has already done so a few times.
