If Lampard knows Volz, it's a good reason not to nominate him... Wink

On a serious note, I thought his view on the Bundesliga to be interesting. He basically said that they simply don't (didn't) show Bundesliga matches on TV over there, that's why he had a Milan, Barça or Madrid jersey as a kid, but not a Bayern one. It is a good league according to him, but he can't imagine moving to the Bundesliga because of this.

Just confirms what we all know and have been saying repeatedly. Poor marketing abroad costs us. Not just money, but it makes us less attractive for good foreign players.
Things are improving, but we now need is international success, e.g. Bayern winning the CL again in the next few years.

The money is there, despite the poor marketing, we are a rich league (as a whole) compared to others (second highest turnovers in Europe this season, after the EPL), but we need international success. Once that happens again, marketing the league abroad should be easier also. We are caught in a circle, and need to get out of it.

Johan Cruyff nennt Sie den besten Mittelfeldspieler der Welt ...

(schmunzelnd) Da hat er Recht ... Eine Riesenehre, wenn einer der größten Fußball-Legenden so was sagt.

    He does have some sense.

Did he call Ballack ... "Bally"?

    Yeah, gay as it gets.

Damn, Schulz got injured during warm up, and replaced with Vranjes. We are doomed (again...).

    @blut

the marketing of the Bundesliga is indeed a joke

yet, the lack of stars makes it slightly difficultas well

besides, in England there simply is no appetite for ANYTHING German; at least with regards to the Germanophobic media managers

when "Das Wunder von Bern" ruled the German box-office, film distributors from over 20 countries were snapping up their country's distributions rights

the only "big country" that registered ZERO interest initially, where not a single distributors would cough up as much as a £1 was England

read the Bild interview and Lampard's arrogance is simply breathtaking

you could not sell the Bundesliga to him if his life depended on it

combine English arrogance/insularity/Germanophobia with our marketing incompetence and you have a match made in hell

Goddamnit! What a beautiful build up, what a great dribbling by Diego, and then he hits the post!

    Unlucky, that deserved a goal.

otto, it's not the English players we want. Wink
So they can ge Germanophobic as they want (if they really are that much).

It was a general statement by me. We do lack stars, but that's the (vicious) circle I talked about. We need success to market the league better, and therefore attract foreign stars, not necessarily the English ones.

Phew. Very good shot by Zidan, nice save by Wiese.

Mainz are dangerous on counters, we need to be careful.

Well, both Zidan and Andreasen are Werder players originally (Andreasen is on a loan even), and they are the best Mainz players this season, have made them the best team of the second half after they joined them in January. So it wouldn't a be a surprise at all if one of them scores against us today.

The linesmen are a joke, that's two offside decisions against us that simply were onside. Could have been great chances.

    Werder vs. Mainz 0:0 HT

We are wasting too many chances, that could cost us. We should be leading by now, definitely the better team.

But at least we're playing football again. It's a very entertaining match, one of the best of the season, because Mainz plays well also. But WE NEED TO SCORE.
