The six nations still active in the European Cups:

    1 Spain 4
    2 England 4
    3 Germany 3
    4 Italy 2
    5 Netherlands 2
    6 Portugal 1

Where is Ligue 1? Or do we have to call it Ligue 0...?

TBH, the italians don't take UEFA cup seriously at all. And rightly so, its become a micky mouse championship. So the only thing that matters is:

    1. England 3
    2. Italy 2
    3. Spain, Holland, Germany 1

That's a lousy excuse. Italian teams are also not good enough to play in the UEFA Cup!

Inter rules over Italy at the moment but they can't even reach the QF...

    UEFA cup >>>> CL

    CL = boring, low scoring

UEFA Cup = attractive, attacking high scoring

....and the average football at this stage in the UEFA cup was also better than the football in the CL...

You wouldn't expect to say this normally, but two of the three Spanish teams (big 3 bollocks) left in the UEFA can easily be considered the two weakest teams (Espanyol and Osasuna).

    Though I'm not underrating them.

    Interesting stuff too:

AZ, Sevilla, Bremen and Benfica are still in the run for the title.
    Leverkusen mathematically too

Spurs and Espanol just need to get in Europe (UEFA) but less pressure as it wll be considered a bonus.

Osasuna zero pressure, can focus solely on UEFA cup. (and avoid relegation)

The bottom three would have the upperhand in squad fitness, as the manager would surely rotate.

Teams like Chievo put in their second teams for uefa cup to focus on the relegation fight in Serie A, that says it all. Palermo showed initial interest, then they too used uefa cup to rest their regulars. These teams have no quality in depth, and hence it is not at all surprising that they got knocked out. If teams like Palermo played their top side, I am pretty sure they would still be there (or maybe not, coz their recent form really sucks without Amauri). But you know what I mean.

I am not saying that all teams in UEFA Cup are crap, just that some take it more seriously than others.

I hope next season teams like Fiorentina, Empoli and Milan ( Smile ) take the uefa cup more seriously, but I know it won't happen. They will play with their reserves just like this year and the last 5-6 years.

They didn'y play AZ, Fenerbache or Palermo Razz

Braga are fourth in the Primera division - making the away game tough.

Leverkusen away - they're now in the quarters ok

Beziktas - not as good as Fenerbache but Spurs were away from home V them adding to the difficulty

Leverkusen haven't looked good to me, i'd put that match on par with ours against Vigo in terms of difficulty.

Braga are nowhere near as good as the big 3 in Portugal, they're part of a group of teams going for 4th along with Maritimo etc.

Fenerbache are the best team in Turkey, they play with style(much like AZ) and they have players like Tuncay, Alex, Kezman, Appiah, Lugano, and Edu. I'd much rather play away at Beskitas than at home to these guys.

Leverkusen away is harder than anything you faced in the group stages. just look at where they are. You cant judge them purely Vs Blackburn, as if we judged a team on one game we could dedude from Newcastle's last game that you have been absolutely pap.

The fact still remains winning all games both home and away is no easy feat and you know it. Playing away all over Europe is only easy if a team makes it look easy. Which is what Spurs have done

So if you'd faced them, you'd have been eliminated.

If Spurs has faced AZ in the last 16 I'd have expected them to go through.

Milner was on the bench, along with N'Zogbia.

Blackburn aren't as good as us in europe. The fact is we've been the underdogs against Fener, Palermo, and AZ, Spurs haven't been in any of their games. And i don't know why you would pick them to beat AZ, they're a VERY good side and would asily finish 5th in the premiership IMO. scratch
