Juventus have an option on Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s heir – Ajax starlet Klaas Jan Huntelaar – according to today’s European newspapers. Reports in several nations suggest that Arsenal had an approach for the 23-year-old forward rejected because he already has an agreement in place with Juve.

It’s claimed that the Bianconeri have offered £8m, just under Ajax’s price-tag of £10m, and the money will be raised by the probable summer sale of want-away stars Mauro Camoranesi and David Trezeguet. Juventus have a strong rapport with the Dutch club, having taken Ibrahimovic in a surprise swoop in 2004.

Huntelaar has been compared to Ibra for his power and eight – 1.86m – but is already far more prolific than the Swede at this stage.Still only 23 years of age, he netted 33 goals in the Dutch League last season and has already netted 17 in 27 this term, added on to his nine in as many Champions League and UEFA Cup matches.

Huntelaar shot to fame in the European Under-21 Championships, where he was voted Player of the Tournament. Juventus have already snapped up another Ajax starlet, Czech international defender Zdenek Grygera, while Bayern Munich’s Hasan Salihamidzic has also penned a Bosman deal.

When Bent and Johnson are on the list of the EPL top goalscorers..just remember they are scoring against many good defences...

IMO Lucarelli is not worth £10M (more like £4-5M himself) and he is recent Capocannoniere!

A 22/23 year old striker who can guarentee you 15-20 goals a season and still alot more potential to come.

Prices are inflated for everyone...Why is Huntelaar being hyped up more than Bent and Johnson...

All 3 haven't done much at Internatioanl level...All 3 are young and are proven goalscorers at more than one club...

I just don't like the fact that no matter what some English players do...they get recognised as being poor or overrated.

I'd rather have Bent out of the three by the way.

English players aren't over priced. Foreign chairman just haven't fully adapted yet to the new system. We'll pay EPL like prices for players with long contracts, clubs just have to make sure players constantly have long contracts.

Isnt that more to do with their age. Obviously a 31 year old striker wont get the price what a 22 year old might get even if the latter is better.

Wayne Rooney scores a fair amount for what he is. He isn't a typical goalscorer like Van Nistelrooy,Owen, Bent, Johnson, Defoe etc...

Rooney gets slated too much....if he doesnt score people judge him without seeing what he does throughout the game. Bit like criticism of Crouch to be honest.
