England will thrash Andorra, and Rooney probably will score. Anything else would be a huge surprise (the former).

Shearer went through a drought before Euro 96. Even though it is a very long on I think once Rooney gets one the rest will flood in.

Maybe you are simply not using him properly? Is Rooney a striker, or more of an attacking midfielder / second striker who could create chances for others (foremost)?

Shearer was a very different type of forward, can't really compare them two.

What is with Otto's obsession with Rooney, as long as he is playing well for Manchester United i don't care if he never scores for England.

otto is obsessed with the English national team, and Rooney is their mascot, the "holy grail", the untouchable icon. It's easy to join the "drop Lampard" bandwagon, the WUM appeal is much higher if you go for Rooney.

Luxembourg were about 190th in the Fifa rankings the last time we played them (prior to the WC). They are in that category, a team of amateurs.

England have played badly against the likes of Lichtenstein and Luxemburg as well

on paper, they SHOULD thrash Andorra

then again, they SHOULD have thrashed T&T at the WC as well

historically, England find playing "smaller names" as easy as most of us getting it up for Mageret Beckett

Good to have a Romanian on the board! I was hoping you would beat us! why didnt you played a little more attacking minded, you could easily won that match. I think this team is better then what I saw during the 2006 qualification. Also a big for your supporters, at least your country have them!

when the whole team is playing badly, you can't automatically blame the striker for not scoring. especially if the midfield has been shite and unbalanced for as long as i can remember.

Rooney is appalling internationally. Crouch and Bent should play up front. And Rooney just behind, with Lampard dropped.

Rooney at INTERNATIONAL level (for club or country) is hopeless

to my knowledge there has never been a German striker NOT SCORING for nearly THREE years in the Nationalmannschaft
