If both Chelsea and United win 1-0, we both go through.

That's hardly impossible is it? (with United being at home as well).

    you are quite right

    it's NOT over yet

the thing with ManU is that Roma are really a FAR BETTER SIDE

in fact, Roma are excellent, whereas ManU have this annoying inability to carve out enough chances in Europe

    can ManU win 1:0 ?

    sure

but Roma are more than able to win themselves

the EPL giants will also miss Scholes badly

    ---------------

Chelsea, IMHO, have a better chance of progressing than ManU

Mourinho will get them ready and unleash their fury

still, Valencia are a top side as well, as we saw tonight

they are quite strong at home also

    you do the maths

    -----------

    it's a pity really , because I have always hoped for a Bayern-ManU REVENGE

They'll have to create more chances at home than they did tonight.

PS. Did you see the way Terry handled Villa? If Mertesacker had dealt with him like that, we'd have seen at least 3 threads by now praising Merte Ale

Why do you say Terry handled Villa when they both play to the left? They'd barely have been facing each-other tonight, and from what I saw Valencia were playing longball (particularly second half) anyways.

"Terry dominates diminutive Spaniard" - congrats. He's a real footballing centreback.

nobody at Bayern has to live with Ronaldo's pace since we will play Totti

who, incidentally, is far better than Kaka, let alone anbody at ManU

Rooney is back because he scored an off-side goal ? lol!

anyway, even if Bayern played ManU in the semis, we would not have to be afraid of 002 at all; this was his first CL goal for 18 games

now we can wait another three years before he hits the net again ; it certainly won't happen this year lol!

Villa spent most of the game down the right tonight, but couldn't get into the game because everytime the ball came near to him, Terry would be marking him and one of Terry, Mikel or Carvalho would intercept. When he went over to the left, the same happened with Carvalho.

Considering the threat that Villa was supposed to offer tonight, he really didn't show up, which is down to fantastic defending imo.

chelsea were actually mildly impressive for about the first time this season. J Cole should also help to win back a few neutrals

the only thing I remember Terry doing was a DIVE in the penalty area

    children

I NEVER claimed the Bundesliga was the best league in Europe

in fact, we are underfunded and therefore don't have many clubs that could compete in the CL

    the difference to England is

    a) money

    b) English journalists treating foreign clubs like sidekicks; the fact that ALL THREE EPL sides would go through was treated as a formality; even Peacock, who is sometimes quite thoughtful, dismissed Valencia's and Roma's chances

    PATHETIC

Bayern and Milan yesterday were poor; but the eventual winner will step up in the semis for a host of reasons

ManU tonight certainly did not look like EPL Champs in waiting though; Bayern are lucky if they still qualify for the CL next year

    they are on different pages

on positive note for otto.. not that I should be encouraging the idiot Wink... ballack looked much improved in a deeper role. there is hope after all.

that was much more like the chelsea of old SP. Diarra should develop into a brilliant player if he ever escapes the dreaded right back position.

Flump is totally useless as a midfielder as we have all said a million times. He contributes nothing and it's especially noticeable with no maka, essien behind him. you may hope roman cashes in in the summer because he is holding the shape of the team back IMO. you can't play him without the shield so you then lose width.

again though Im hoping you go through. If carra pockets drogba then athens here we come Wink

Otto were you impressed by Rooneys wonderful goal, he did alot more than podolski did last night and more than Klose did all season.

We were down to 10 men for 60 minutes, but still scored one of the goals of the tournament.

Romas goals came from a corner/deflection and a howler from VDS, they didnt do that much considering they were playing at home against a united side with 10 players and 5 of the first team missing. We will win at OT and go through.

It was 11 Vs 10 for most of the game. Im presuming unless Richardson plays in will not be so at Old Trafford Biggrin

On a side note: noted the typically gracious play from the Italian hosts in making sure the ballboys were quick to give the homeside the ball for throw ins then suddenly go missing when it was a United throw in. Such gamesmanship was matched only by the balanced way the policy handled troublemakers from both sets of supporters, kicking several shades of shit out of Manchester United fans whilst not even venturing onto the otherside of the perspex divide to meet out the same punishment to the goadking Roman supporters...

Another amusing thing about last night was that Roma had the nerve to accuse Ronaldo of play acting, yet I counted at least 3 blatant moments of play acting from the Italians in the first 15 minutes, compunded by Simone Perrota Platoon slump in the box which he got rightly carded for.

Extra points for fairplay must also go to Chivu for clapping and patting the ref on the back when Scholes got sent off.

I hope Milan go through as a representative of Italy, but not Roma, who were immensely dislikeable based on yesterday's performance. What Englishman can honestly say they would want to go and play, or watch their side play, in Rome?

Good post, Rooney totataly outshone Podolski.

United played better with 10 men against a better team, than Bayern did with 11.

United scored a beautiful goal, without having to rely on punts into the penalty area and dodgy goalkeeping

The ball boys were idiots, surely that sort of action isnt allowed. I hope we are winning 1-0 with 2 minutes to go at OT and the ball boys refuse to give Roma the ball.

Chivu is now in the same bracket as Totti and De Rossi

The police should be sacked and sued

The ballboys using multiple balls is quite normal, and if anything I was just amazed that ManU failed to understand it again and again. They were simply unprofessional and failed to get into position quick enough. This kind of thing happens at many stadiums.

As for Chivu, baaaah.. mountain out of a molehill.. off course he will be trying to joke with the ref when they are ahead... Again it happens everywhere..

THE return legs now clearly are

    Bayern vs Milan

    +

    Valencia vs Chelsea

    ---------------

ManU vs Roma will be good to watch as well but the first two encounters will generate more heat

Chelsea are not out yet; in fact, I have a hunch they are going to score at least a goal using the sledgehammer approach

whether Valencia can pick them up on the counter to win 2:1 remains to be seen

    the Spaniards are 54:46 favourites
