Van Gaal Contract Clause (WC manager)

Amazed no-one has pounced on this . Van Gaal has been saying for the last yera that he'd like to be the manger at a WC again and would do it only for a team that has the quality to win it.

So he made AZ put a clause in his new contract (till 2010) that he can only leave if he becomes the national coach of these teams:
Netherlands, Germany, Argentina, England and Spain.

He's been talking to some I suppose.

van Basten now its the time to leave with grace .. there is a job for you at Ajax.

Will take him.

Van Gaal can only leave for those 5 nations (can't remember if France was included), no other. I don't think he picked those names out of a hat IMO. With the exception of Germany (who's doing quite well), they're all in some turmoil or another - and Van Gaal would be a step up in all cases.

He's a very smart man (and a smug git), but he knows were his chances lie and what his preferences are.

He really might have enquired at a couple of them. And by proclaiming his availibity in such matter he does give food for tought at the aforementioned nations.

He speaks Spanish, Dutch and English and I'd imagine he can speak some German given he's Dutch. He can't speak French, Italian or Portuguese. Argentina's national language is officially Spanish, the rest are self explanatory.

No. AZ first didn't want to give him a chance to coach a national team, then wnate dhim to select only two nations, but in the end he selected 5 - only for these he's contractually allowed to leave.

Yes, he can speak those languages, but he also chose them because he can make them into WC winning side and because he could only chose a select few.

There's definetly more to it if you ask me... he likely enquired at a couple...

Imagine the way we would play with either of those and the talent we have

We sure as hell wont win anything and go out of the tournament with a bang.....but we'll get to see some unbelievable matches, I'm sure of that

The irony is that we have the biggest chance to win a tournament if we keep Van Basten as manager.

Agreed, even if we would win the EC it is meaningless if we play like…let’s say..Germany!! I mean they won a shitload of trophys, and still a lot of people don’t take them seriously when it really comes to football. So let’s sack van Basten and let’s go play some real football again, cause this is dire.
