They're not the elite though Man U and Bayern - some good draws and a large slice of luck have got them here.

The CL is set up so that Man U (lost to Copenhagen and Celtic), Real (dicked by Lyon), Bayern (not toughest group) and Milan (lost to AEK and Lille) are virtually guaranteed to go through - once you're past there you're in the semi's with a bit of luck before you know it.

    1. Chelsea

    2. Liverpool

    3. Inter/Barca

...are the top teams in Europe at the moment - Man U, Bayern, Milan are at that level only in name.

You may be onto something there Pierre. That would be the first time the Mancs are facing an opponent that sees them eye to eye. Roma, as good as they are, were inexperienced in the end. The whole thing caught up to them. Bayern or Milan will stand straight up against the Mancs eye to eye. <Ale>

IF Pizarro is a starter, then I see Bayern advancing to the Final. Pizarro is the most prolific scorer for Bayern in this season's CL, but Hitzfeld puts him on the bench in favor of Podolski. Biggrin <Ale>

Because Pizarro is actually most dangerous when he comes later in the match. Pizarro is like Hitzfeld's Wunderwaffe Puro, you will learn one day also.

Besides, he might start against Milan actually, but don't complain if he is only 50% as effective then. Ale

Experience is massive - even Man U's younger players have CL experience in KO phases.

Exactly, the Mancs, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal have a huge advantage, experience wise over most teams in CL. They're there every year. <Ale>

7-1 It could not happen to a better team.... Fletcher played great. Man U never let Roma settle and broke there backs with every kind of footy you could ask a team to play......For me the hole team played well the top six IMO
    1- Fletcher---Monster in the middle great covering/passing/tackling
2- Carrick----Positioned well passed and covered well 2 nice goals.
3- Ronaldo---Magic on the wing linked up well up front and in the middle
4- Giggs---Found everyone he needed to and played like a youngster
5- Smith-- tough in the air and caused the CB's trouble all the time.
6- Rooney---Worked great with every player. lots of running and quick touch passing.

ok Agree Brian. Though I'd have Rooney and Heinze in front of Smith.

Strange that someone that gets 4 assists in one game isn't in the top 3 players but Carrick, Ronaldo and Fletcher were superb.

    ------- Fletcher ---- Carrick

    -------------- Scholes

    ---- Ronaldo -- Rooney -- Giggs

    Or something similar.

Fletcher to do the destroying again, Carrick and Scholes to link the play and Giggs, Ronaldo and Rooney to provide the goals. Have Saha and Park as subs.

Just out of interest Parks, how come you are rating Carrick and Fletcher above Giggs? Giggs was involved in pretty much every goal until he came off.

Carrick, Giggs and Ronaldo would all get around the same rating or ranking for me.

Fletcher gets my MotM because he never gave any of there attacking players a moments peice, completely wound up Totti etc and not only that used the ball excellently as well.
