Surprised a thread hasn't been started!

He's said that in a summer he'll leave Blton and take a break from the game.

I give Bolton two seasons before they're relegated.

I also bet that halfway throug next season Roeder gets the boot and Allardyce is appointed Ale

I think your club needs the discipline and man-management of Sam more than the calm 'intelligence' of Sven. Remember you've still got a $h!t defense which he can improve with v little money (look at Bolton) and he can play good football when he wants to ( nyou have the players. Plus he has shown he can get the best out of talented but unruly players( Diouf) He is exactly what your club needs. When you've sort out some of these issues than you can move onto a more thoughtful coach and move onto the next level. IMO removing 'Fat Freddie' is still a necessity for any prolonged improvement of your club.

Don't get me wrong i would take Fat Sam, but Sven is a proven winner and has competed at the highest level. Discipline isn't really an issue anymore as we don't really have any unruly players, what we need is someone that is smart in the transfer market and plays with a good system. Both fit the bill but Sven is more proven.

    In the transfer market Allardyce>>>Sven.

Sven's achievements at Lazio are hugely overhyped. He practically bankupted the club with the spending he made there. He certainly wasn't a shrewd buyer.

IMO Allardyce's ability in the transfer market is unrivalled in the EPL

Allardyce has never been given a big budget. If i had £10m to spend on a player i would trust Sven to spend it wisely over Fat Sam.

Lazio's owners bankrupt Lazio, since when did the manager deal with the financial side of a club ffs?! Rolling Eyes

Sam is an excellent manager, he always gets results, he has beaten all of the top sides, he has been promoted then avoided relegation, consistently finished top 6, got Bolton into europe. Attracted Okocha, now anelka diouf etc. Built a quality team, but it's time he moved on. He should have been the England manager, but thats the f.a for you. is very up to date with the new stuff avaliable to use.

He deserves a bigger job than man city imo.

Man City would be stupid club for him to go to (no offence to City). Regularly lower in the league than Bolton and don't have much more money anyway.

I think the Man City manager is to have a larger finance budget available to them next year.

Thye have the potential to become bigger than Bolton. When Bolton lose Big Sam it will be very hard to find an adequete replacement and it could be that they will plummet down the League table.

i guess from fat sam's perspective he's taken bolton as far as he can, and he'd have more chance to go further with a "sleeping giant" like man city/newcastle. with a takeover, either of them could become a major force in a few years

Heaven help any EPL team that get Sven for there manager. I do not like his football in any shape or form. Sam has more to prove and will get more out of the Newcastle's players. Plus he is English and we need to give our managers a chance with top teams...Ale

It would be brilliant if he managed Newcastle. The style his teams play isn't exactly beautiful, but he would start off with better players and a bigger budget at Newcastle than he did with Bolton, so IMO the results will show quicker. And he's an old-fashioned manager who really takes charge of the club and makes an impact, so it would help sort out a lot of things.

But unfortunately I don't see Shepherd sacking Roeder (until it's too late). And there's also the risk of Shepherd interfering with Allardyce's running of the club.

No offence Sgoater, but from the numbers being mentioned for your takeover I think that's a fair statement.

Kas : Newcastle are an ancient club and have set traditions at the club. Even more so than Man U and Liverpool. Fast attacking footy is entrenched at the club so big Sam I think will be allowed to use his coaching skills but only at the expense of giving Geordie's lots of goals...Ale

Bolton do score goals. Plus occasionally under Roeder the past couple of seasons there have always been times when the team has resorted to lumping it forward, especially when Ameobi was fit or Sibierski is thrown on.

But the main idea behind getting someone like Allardyce is not necessarily playing style - it's getting a manager who's strong enough and intelligent enough to properly take control of the club. I can even understand Kimbo's preference for Sven, because he will sort out the defensive problems, make some sensible signings, basically bring a bit of "normalcy" to Newcastle. Roeder is too weak a character to do that effectively, and IMO that is reflected in the inconsistency of Newcastle's results the past season and a half. Souness was just a lunatic so he doesn't count.
