Last years final was on track to be outrageous... right up until Lehmann decided to use that old american football move... I don't support either team in any way, so I can't comment on that - but I agree that both sides at full strength and 1-0 would have been far more interesting than what actually happened, which was pretty interesting anyway. But that match could have really come off...

Simply because Liverpool are involved, it's impossible for them to play an open attacking game and it's impossible to play an open attacking game against them.

No one is saying the ref won u the match. I was merely saying the ref fucked up the match for the neutral spectator: At 1-0 down there was no way we were going to sit back and wait for barca to attack us, we'd have seen two attacking teams on the pitch and the final would have been much more interesting.

I would list all the boring games Liverpool have been in but life is too short. I wasn't going to reply to this thread, but unfortunately lois is a Pr!ck so i had to.

The 2 recent finals have only been exciting because you've had no other option than to push forward.

This was in the Times Newspaper today. Valdano is known for speaking his mind, he doesn't usually hold back.

I guess that's the sort of outlook you develop when you support a team that will be playing golf on 23 May...

Batman posted a thread earlier on about Man U's spending to win the Premiership. But here's a thought.

Liverpool's most expensive player at the club (i.e. excluding the on-loan Cisse) is Alonso at 12m, followed by Kuyt at 11m and Crouch at 8m.

In comparison Man U failed to get to the final with Ferdinand (28m), Rooney (25m), and Carrick (15m), and Chelsea failed to get to the final with Sheva (30m), Essien (25m), Drogba (25m) etc etc. And we all know how much Real paid.

Ferdinand never played in either semi final though, Roger.

My point is that when you have a squad which has cost 200m (I'm guessing a number - but twice your first team is 2x cost of our first team I reckon) to assemble, you can afford to have some luxury players.
