'Your' Team of the Season

we have not had a thread clearly dedicated to posters Premiership team of the year (i think ..) ; so who makes your XI ?

It would be nice if explanations are made ..

James - Should be given another chance with England
Evra - Missed a fair few games but when he's played, he's been superb.
Vidic & Carvahilo - Two most impressive centre backs by a distance for me.
Essien - 'mazing!
Aretta - Best midfielder outside the top 4 by far.
Scholes - Back to his best, best link man in the league.
V.Persie - Could of been a contendor for player of the year bar injury.
Ronaldo - Player of the season.
Drogba - Second best player in the league.
Berbatov - Best newcomer.

Goalkeeper:
Edwin van der Sar - The most consistant goalkeeper of the year, made some crucial saves earlier in the season. If Cech had been fit for most of the season things may be different.

Defence:
Steve Finnan - The most underated player in the League for me, brilliant at times for Liverpool. Honourable mention to Gary Neville.

Ricardo Carvalho - Brilliant all season, he has had many different partners in defence this year and still performed like a £18 million player.

Nemanja Vidic - Simply put a rock. Looked better than Ferdinand for most parts of the season and thats says something.

Patrice Evra - The best leftback this season without a doubt, some of the stuff was like Ashley Cole 2003/2004 season. Brilliant defensively and helping the team forward.

Midfield:
Cristiano Ronaldo - The best player this year simply put, a future World Star. Maybe he is already.

Paul Scholes - Turned the clock back to the late ninetees this year. Changed his role in the team which is not easy, but was still a class act.

Michael Essien - The most complete midfielder in the League, was outstanding for Chelsea for most parts, his versitility is a major plus for his team.

Robin van Persie - Maybe a choice not many people will agree on as he missed a large part of the season. He was awesome in the place of an injured Thierry Henry and helped us through games. His class really shows at times. He can have a big influence next year.

Forwards:
Dimitar Berbatov - A player that everyone who loves football loves to watch, great touch and vision and a scorer of great goals. People appreciate things like that in a footballer. The best buy this year too.

Didier Drogba - A scorer of goals and crucial ones at that. The most feared striker in the Premiership at the moment.

Howard

Finnan, Carvalho, Vidic, Shorey

Ronaldo, Scholes, Essien, Giggs

Mccarthy, Drogba

James - once named 'calamity' James , has changed that perception .. for good ..

Neville - good going forward , Finnan would be a alternative.
Carvalho - has been Chelsea's no1 CB this season (not JT) he was the leader when the captain was absent at the back.
Vidic - No nonsense + fearless ..
Evra - has been one of the outstanding LB performer this season ..

Essien - Has been a Rock ; has been played in 3 different roles, but as CM, different class
Scholes - came back from injury, and proved his worth
Ronaldo - Player of the Season

van Persie - has been one of Arsenals bright stars in the first half of the season .. injury forced him to miss the business end of the season
Berbatov - first season, top class.
Drogba - His goals, crucial .. has caused many defenders , BIG problems.

You all do realise it's Mcarthy's first season in England as well?

Its not surprising that people prefer Berbatov to Mcarthy - just because he's so good to watch.
Also, lots of mentions for Van Persie (token Arsenal player). Awesome player, when fit, but I'd prefer Diouf. He's been electric , really one of the major beneficieries of the trend towards 433/451.

Lescott and Carrick deserve some credit for surpassing expectations so thoroughly. Campbell has been as good as Vidic, and has raised the quality of the rest of Pompey's defenders too. And if James were playing for a contending club, he'd be getting a lot of stick - there have been some mistakes.

James- he has been the difference for Pompey on many occasions this season , very good season.
Finnan-The most underrated player even by his own team fans.
Vidic-Monster
Carvalho- Great , if it would have been him not Terry Chelsea would have lost the title ages ago.
Evra-Great season , attacking defending.
Ronaldo-player of the yr.
Essien-The most complete midfielder in the prem at the moment.
Carrick-I put him infront of Scholes because he was new to the team and did a role which doesnt really suits him
Arteta-the flair of Everton , the only one.
Van Persie-amazing till the injury.
Drog-the top dog.

Finnan was absolutely useless at the beginning of the season, but was voted our second best player of the season behind Carragher. I think Fin has been better than Neville, but Neville has been more consistent over the course of the season. He is a total c**t though.

reina because nobody stands out above anyone else and I will pick him for reasons purely out of bias

carragher and carvalho- fairly obvious picks

finnan- best right back comfortably this year

evra - best left back comfortably this year

Ronaldo Fc- won games single handedly at times

Scholes - great first half of the season gets him in

Arteta - consistent throughout the season

RVP - could have been the player of the year but gets this spot because no one else stands out

Drogba - stupid amount of goals

Mc'Carthy- more impressive than berbatov in the league

cotr arteta played wide left ffs and essien has been awesome, vidic has been equally as good as carragher so its not obvious slight bias but so was parky but its not completely clear cut

Carragher HAS to be in there. In my honest opinion, other than the first few games, he has been the best defender in the league. He's saved our arses countless times.

Essien has been centre back and right back for half the season frank.

it's jose's fault he isn't in the teams of the year.

vidic had a great start to the season but has been exposed a hell of a lot recently especially against quick players

carragher had a poor start but has been outstanding since

Ye I agree, he should be in the England defence ahead of Terry! He doesnt bring his leadership to the national team anyway. And in 1 v 1 defending Carragher is a monster!

As I said to CotR and Obi, if I was doing a Champions league team of the season, then Carragher and Reina would be in the team. In a league team of the season I wouldn't put them in. James and Jussi would be in front of Reina. Vidic, Carvahilo would be in front of Carragher.

He is 100 percent in ours though

Nobody's mentioned Foster or Carson. They did much better than most of the other names mentioned (bar James, he would be my choice anyway).

I wouldn't put Reina in as he had a few dodgy moments at the beginning of the season, and James has been better than everyone.

But Liverpool with their bad start still only conceded the same number of goals as manu. Although Vidic has been great he has had a lot of help from rio, but carragher has had to play with hypia (old and slow) and agger (young and inexperienced).
