Team of the 'half season' Empty Team of the 'half season'

Post by Tweesus Sun Dec 24, 2006 12:39 pm

Ok, this is purely the BEST 11 players in specific positions from the first 19 games - not who has exceeded their potential just plain and simple who has been the best...

I think its difficult to argue with this:

    ---------------Jussi-----------------

    Neville---Vidic-----Terry-----Evra

    Ronaldo--Essien--Scholes---Giggs

    -----------Diouf----Drogba---------

the distinct lack of Arsenal and Liverpool players speaks volumes but i don't think there is justification for either teams players to make it into this squad.

    ok

    Good team.

Although I think Sol Campbell and Mikel Arteta are serious contenders for the XI.

    ok

You might be cained for not including many players not of the big four but your team is probably accurate. Good choices ok

Campbell is a great call but who would you drop from Terry and Vidic?

and who would Arteta replace? IMO he'd definately be on the 'most improved' list ok

well its actually just the big 2 with a couple of bolton players who mad it there largely because they've shone so brightly above the rest of the team (exceptions to anelka, ben Haim and Campo)

He's been amazing for them and for me has been one of the best five players in the league!

Again I'll say it, Taylor has played a lot of his better games a left mid.

Carvalho/Terry - difficult to decide, obviously you know better though Wink

    I disagree.

Carvalho was immense yesterday, and has played very well this season, including a good performance v United.

But, 4 goals conceded in the last 2 games without JT (sloppy goals too - none of them have been wonderstrikes, or even shots from outside the box).

How about adding 5 subs, that would help cover more options.

And anyone want to suggest a manager? Alex Ferguson?

We can't all have a "shoot on site" policy like Chelsea. Some of us have the talent to take it into the box Very Happy

Harry Redknapp is the undoubted manager of the season (so far) for me.

Just shows how good we are at out long distance shooting. Maybe we should try and buy Scholes too, to bolster that policy. Wink

I would go for Allardyce myself. Bolton have, surprsingly, been playing some good football. And Pompey pissed me off last season with the way they bought their way out of the relegation zone. I see them as a very poor mans Chelsea. Erm

He has had a bit of money though and has made some top-notch signings on loan and on frees.

allardyce has made just the one signing of note and yet is above pompey in the league <Ale>
