you've seen Juca Kfouri's comment about afonso at his blog? this guy is sick...

Afonso has scored more goals than all them put together but he is not good enough to be called up. I hope he shut up his critics.

Don't worry. I'm not a journalist. Not yet. But in less than two months I will finish my graduation in journalism. No joke. In the beggining of the next year I will be a law student. I realized that I don't want to work as a journalist during my whole life (or more than 5 years). In the end of they year I will have another "vestibular exam".

I didn't read Kfouri's blog yet, but yesterday all Sportv and ESPN Brasil pundits criticised Affonso's call up.

BTW I also have more respect for the police. ok

    @ Boyz from Brazil....

It is not strange journalists are criticising the Alfonso call up.... He hardly showed his talent in Brazil so nobody really knows him, he is already 26 and just played in Sweden and the Netherlands for small clubs.... The big guys are left out of the squad....

Journalists in Brazil are on that no worse than the journalists in any other country....

I hope he gets a fair chance. It is a HUGE difference to play for a provincial Dutch club without any pressure than to play for the Brazil national squad... It will take perhaps some time (time he won't get) before he shows his real ability because of the difference...

I really love to see him scoring goals in the yellow jersey...! That would be amazing

He is a superb lazy bastard.... He has skills and a superb free kick, very hard shot...!

If he has to work too hard he is useless so you need other players to do the dirty work for him

He is not a striker for the English Premier League, Spain suits him much better..

Though, he still has to prove if he is good enough for the real top!

Lets see if Sobis is picked for Brazil's, Copa America squad

Its great that Alfonso Alves is given a chance , which Dunga is doing to a couple of players , giving them a chance.

Apparently Alfonso is the real deal, he is being linked with United, Chelsea and Real. Only Chelsea were stupid enough to be interested in Kezman.

Truth be told, I doubt Liedson could score in too many other leagues either due to his very slight physique...but damn is he a class player.

He could do a job against many countries for Brazil, but I think against bigger stronger and rougher defenders at the highest level he might have trouble shaking loose of the marking...although his movement is excelent.

He did have a very poor CL this year though, and that can't go unnoticed (he was poor in PT then too though, so I'll wait to see for next year).

You can't argue with Van Basten, Romario, Ronaldo, Van Nistelrooij etc, but limited players like Machlas and Arveladze have ridiculous goals ratios in the eredivisie too. Saying that, it's a stronger league than the Portuguese IMO.

Machlas was $h!t for Ajax too. He only had a good string at Vitesse. Arveladze is a great player, it's a shame Rangers only used him as a winger.

I mean you shouldn't use the Scottish league to back the the Eredivisie's case, because it is so bad. A decent striker should expect to score in pretty much every game in Scotland.

Don't think so, I'd say their both even strong (or weak).

Both are used to being robbed by the bigger leagues and have found ways to be (relatively) competitive in Europe on a shoestring budget...

Of course scoring goals in the Eredivisie is something else than scoring them in England, Spain or Italy.

I thought the pedigree of topscorers from our league speaks for it self. Apparently I'm wrong and it's completely logical to judge us by the one off who didn't make it.
