It is being reported that Co Adriaanse has told friends he's on the brink of becoming Manchester City's new boss.

While Claudio Ranieri, the former Chelsea manager now in charge of Parma, is still favourite for the Eastlands job, the arrival of Adriaanse on the scene must be seen as a major challenge to him.

Adriaanse, 59, last week resigned as coach of Ukraine club Metallurg Donetsk. Despite being a title-winning coach at Ajax, rivals Feyenoord have offered him their manager's job.

But he asked for five days to think over their offer while he discusses his future with City.

He's perfect for building an excellent new squad ok

There's only one problem : he needs about a year to a year and a half before you get to see real results....and I can't see him being given that time at City.

Yeah but with £50m to spend do you think he would be faster ? Im not sure what he would be like, ive never seen him spend so much before but he seems very good at developing squads.

Adriaanse is the one manager who should *not* be given those funds Smile

He's very good at picking players that are poor / limited under other managers and look awesome when they play for him. He's very strict and has very rigid ideas about discipline and tactics, he won't tolerate a single player who thinks he's better than the team.

He's laid the foundation for the current AZ squad, he reached the UEFA cup semifinal with a team outside the Dutch top3 and managed to play CL with Willem II.

He's legendary because he's ordered penalty trainings on second Easterday and making a team *walk* home from a disgraceful performance at an away match...

He's not your typical Dutch manager Wink

His teams have always been the neutral's favourites, because when given the time his teams produce awesome attacking football.

Well I have mixed feelings about him! He is Amsterdam born, and a arrogant c**t (obviously) That we need another Ajax reject makes it even harder. But is excellent in building new teams. But he cant handle starplayers, now is that not a problem, cause we dont have any Biggrin

He has very weird methods of working, after a loss with AZ, he made the whole team looking for hidden eastereggs....that werent there at all...

But overall I think he would be good for us.

I actually met him when his Willem II team was in trainingscamp before a CL match and had a few discussions with him about football and tactics.

He really is a very open and friendly guy, will discuss anything you want with him as long as you respect him and use arguments to make your case.

He's one of the most rational people I've ever met, structurally using facts and points to make his case.

Not exactly what you'd expect in the footballing business and absolutely the opposite of Psycho....

I always thought of his as a Sam Allardyce kind of manager (obviously not in terms defensive football) but in how he doesnt take $h!t and is very good at building teams. I do worry though fromwhat you have said that he wouldn't be able to spend £50m and buy big name players.

Overall i think he like Ranieri would be a potentially great appointment but not one without risk. I think if i had thechoice id go for Ranieri if we are to have that much to spend. If we were going to be going off a small budget than Co might be the best choice.

The big question with Co is always....

Is he able to learn another culture apart from his own culture I am afraid not. So you have to accept all his negative characteristics if you don't accept it it doesn't work. It is all or nothing with Co. He only knows two colours: black and white and in between there is nothing!

... I am afraid his methods only works in the Netherlands... But who knows..?

At an English top club he would never succeed because the press would finish him off.... but mid-table teams like city suits him better perhaps.

He is a bit a Louis van Gaal kind of trainer....

He lead FC Den Haag to the 4th place of the Eredivisie in his famous Christmas three system! The real fans in Den Haag therefore will always admire the guy... Also because he always saved time to talk with the fans. He looks arrogant but is a good guy inside but also a real "Einzelgaener" (loaner)...

If his method works it wouldn't surprise me City to finish in the top 4 of the EPL (I am DEADLY serious). On the other hand, it won't surprise me either if he is sacked after 3 month....
