So, we definitely want Malouda according to the man himself.
Is that a good thing?

Yes. Zambrotta himself said in a press conference he's 100% staying (but apparently the next day he told the Italian press he wants to move to Milan )
Don't worry, as I've said before, if you really want Dani Alves, he's yours. You'll beat our transfer fee to Sevilla, and he's not the kind of player to turn down bigger wages to stay in a familiar league. Plus I think he'll adapt fine in the Premiership.

I actually rate the player, for numerous years he has been playing well for Lyon and the French National team. He can take that to Liverpool and really add something to you left hand side.
Better than Boudewijn Zenden and Mark Gonzalez, and more reliable than Harry Kewell.
£12 million would get the 26 year old.

I've seen him only during a few CL games and he's decent, If it solves our left wing problem great.

Lyon chairman Aulas is playing tough...apparently he wants 20 million euros for Abidal and 25 mill. for Malouda. That's about 17 million pounds, which is clearly far too much.

From Goal.com
Florent Malouda is a pacy, attacking left-winger who can also play as a second striker or behind the front two, and who has been commended in France for his all-round game, including his defensive work and sound tackling.
Sounds like the type of player Rafael Benítez would go for.
But i think Liverpool need a player like Ronaldo, Robben, Messi, etc. someone that would get you off your seat, a player that can win a game on his own.
I would recommend Quaresma.

It's all good recommending, but Liverpool have to go out and buy the player, it's too much talk, not enough action and that's got to change if we want to challenge for the title, I know there's plenty of time, but if we really want a player we need to be doing our absolute best to secure the signing, every day we are linked with a new player instead of persuing one player for a long period

According to France Football, Juventus have tabled a bid for Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Sissoko.
Sissoko has fallen out of favour at Anfield following the arrival of Javier Mascherano from West Ham in January.
The Mali international's future in England is therefore in doubt, despite still having three years remaining on his contract, and Barcelona are also thought to be interested.
Liverpool are unwilling to sell Sissoko to another English club, but may be tempted by Juventus' attractive offer.
The Italian giants are rumoured to be offering The Reds between €15million and €20million (£10m-£13.5m) for Sissoko.
Meanwhile, Juventus are reported to be interested in Lyon's out-of-favour midfielder Alou Diarra, who is also a target for Everton, Bordeaux and Marseille.

For that price I would say we'd have to accept. It would also give Alonso more confidence that he'd get a starting place which might persuade him to stay. Hope Lucas is happy as 4th choice CM...

Kuyt is the cheapest name to get on the shirt and Mascherano the most expensive.
Imagine if you signed Celtic's Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink (yup that's his last name, all 3 words!).
Thinking of... probably great signing too, the targetman to replace Crouch with - like Crouch but better.

My post from the 'if you were manager' competition on the Liverpoolfc.tv forums
Where does the team need strengthening?
If you look at our team’s performances over the last two or three seasons, it’s blindingly obvious that we lack technical ability and attacking thrust. Our strikers have been far from clinical, and there’s been a severe lack of goals from the wings this season. Ok, Kewell and Garcia have both had long term injuries, but that doesn’t make up for the fact that we were 21 points behind the leaders…does it?
In my opinion, with the destructive Mascherano and magical Alonso in the squad, it is imperative that Gerrard is pushed out to the right to replace Pennant, who’s only managed one goal this season. With Zenden and Gonzalez leaving the club, I think the most important position we need to strengthen is left midfield. Who knows…Leto could do a good job there, but we just don’t know yet. We need consistent, quality players in every position, so I think the signing of a left winger is a must.
Another big problem in our squad is the lack of goals our forwards have contributed to the team. Bellamy, Kuyt, and Fowler have all underachieved, although Crouch has looked ok when he’s played. It really suggests that we desperately need to sign a striker, and not just Voronin…A quality striker who will definitely get us goals. We seem to create so many chances which we squander, and I think a world class striker would really make the difference.
The third position which I believe needs strengthening is right back. Although Finnan has been one of our best and most consistent players over the past few seasons, he’s getting older...I haven’t been that impressed by Arbeloa, although he’s been reasonably good as a short term cover option. We need a right back who’s solid defensively, but also strong offensively. We need someone who will overlap Stevie on the right wing, and play decent crosses into our strikers.
With Hyypia looking like he’s staying, I don’t think we really need any more centre back cover, and Aurelio was looking good at left back before his injury, so he and Riise are looking quite sound at left back. We definitely don’t need any more central midfielders too, so maybe another young player with potential should be added to the squad…
Who are the players that will make the difference?
We have to be realistic…I don’t think Barca will let Eto’o go, and it’s not like we’re going to sign the Ronaldinihos and Ronaldos of football.
Left midfielder – Well, we’ve been linked with Malouda, and his stats do look impressive…but then so did Cisse’s. I think there’s one outstanding left midfielder who would really improve our squad, and who would add lots of technical ability, and that’s DAVID SILVA. He tore England apart in a recent friendly, scored a wonder goal against Chelsea, and has been one of La Ligas most consistent performers. He’s young, and will probably still improve and is still learning. He’s a scary and exciting prospect, and I think he could become Spain’s next big star. He oozes quality…his touch, his vision; he’s just what we need. I think he’d be a massive hit in the Premiership.
Striker – I’m going to be slightly controversial, and steer away from the regular choices; tevez and Eto’o, and say OWEN. For a start, he’ll probably cost about a 3rd as much as the other too, and is proven in the premiership. It was a hard choice, because I really like Tevez, but the prices that are being touted around are very unrealistic…We may have more money to spend, but that doesn’t mean we should spend twice as much on a player than his worth. No, Owen would still be great for Liverpool, and he still holds the qualities I would look for in a world class striker. He may be a little bit raw following his injury, but if the recent England friendly showed us one think it’s that he still holds fantastic pace, and he’s definitely improved his work rate. He has a brilliant touch, and is also a fantastic poacher. I would be delighted to partner him with Kuyt up front, because I think they’d compliment each other really well, and with Silva on the left, the goals should start flowing again.
Right back – Well, many people are saying Alves, but in my opinion, he’s not the best defensively, and his form has deteriorated towards the end of the season. I’d prefer Valencia’s MIGUEL…He’s very solid and consistent, and apparently he supports Liverpool! Alves would just move here for the money, whereas Miguel would be much less of a mercenary. Defensively, not many people get past him, and he also has fantastic pace, and decent control. He’d probably cost a lot less than Alves, and would prove just as effective as him in our team.
Young player – Scunthorpe’s BILLY SHARP has been in excellent form this season, scoring around 30 goals in league one. He’s young, English, and should be quite cheap. Worth a gamble if you ask me…Keegan came from Scunthorpe, wouldn’t it be incredible if Sharp could emulate him!

Neither are realistic signings. Silva has only just broken into the Valencia side this season (aided by Vincente's injury woes) and has enjoyed a wonderful season. He's happy at Valencia, and I don't think Valencia have any intention of letting him go, especially because he can also play as an AM or SS.
I agree that Miguel is better than Alvez, and for me Miguel is the best RB in the world. Every time I watch him he is impressive, defensively solid, has pace, skill and great technical ability. Was initially a winger, but has been convered into a fantastic FB. Would Valencia be willing to let him go? I'm not so sure. Finnan is doing fine anyway.
How about Bentley & MGP?

You were going so well until you mentioned Mickey Owen CT. He can't be depended upon to score 20+ goals. He'll only get injured again.
