Sami Hyypia insists that Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has told him he has a future at Anfield.

Newcastle, Wigan, Fulham, Sunderland and Reading have all been strongly linked with a move for the veteran stopper.

Indeed it was reported that Hyyia was locked in talks about his future after being told he could leave Liverpool.

However, Hyypia says that Benitez has told him he wants him to remain at the club and see out of the last year of his current contract.

According to Hyypia, he met with Benitez just before the UEFA Champions League final with Milan and he assured him of his future.

"Rafa said, 'We are happy with you and you are not for sale.'" Hyypia told Ilta-Sanomat.

"I will go back to Liverpool in July for pre-season training.

"Next season will be my ninth in Liverpool and I still have one year left on my current contract."

Hyypia is currently back in his homeland preparing for Euro 2008 qualifiers against Serbia and Belgium.

Just because Benitez promises him a future, does that mean he will definately stay??

Thats not what I meant. Would Sami want to stay to play 15-20 games a season where he could be a rock in the defence at a lesser club like villa.
Sol Campbell left Arsenal knowing he would quite possibly lose his first team spot and wanted to make sure he played more games even if it was for a lesser club.
Is this unlikely to be the same with Sami?

I think hyypia loves it at liverpool. Id say he would happily have another season like he has just had

what it would mean however is that milito will not be signing which is fine by me. three top class centre backs are hard to keep happy

How do you lot think Leto will do in the premiership?

I've only seen one (bad) video on him on youtube, he's tall, good at crossing and can beat his man. But I dont think he's fast..

Will he be our number 1 left winger? or will Kewell still be our number 1? or maybe a new signing (Simao, Malouda) can be our number one? What do you think Benitez will do to that left side of ours?

I didn't say it did make him a good player - I was just pointing that particular event as evidence that he was the left-winger in WC06 for France.

Liverpool have added another young prospect to their ranks in the shape of Swedish teenager Alexander Kacaniklic.

The midfielder first impressed during a 12-day trial at Anfield in February, before shining again in April, and has now signed a three-year contract to move to England.

Explaining his decision to leave Helsingborgs, the 15-year-old expressed his belief that his career will be better served on Merseyside.

"It's at this age you develop the most and the conditions are much better at Liverpool," Kacaniklic told Helsingborgs Dagblad.

Rafa Benitez is currently plotting an overhaul of his first team squad, and the acquisition of the young midfielder is another step in his side project to freshen up his reserve options.

The Reds also completed deals for Hungarian teenagers Krisztian Nemeth and Andras Simon on Monday.

it's very easy to sign players quickly if you hand over combined fees of around 50 million for 3 players.

im sure the board are working hard on the targets so patience please. we'll have new players by the start of the season Wink

if arsenal do miraculously get eto then it will be because barca want henry, not any other reason. there will therefore be nothing we can do about it

    eto is not realistic

targets will be in place and the club will be working towards signing them. you just have to have faith and wait and see

Nope. Same reason, the Liga race is really tense so talk of transfers has idied down. The only rumours involving us are of Abidal...we've made a bid but it got rejected.
