Exactly COTR.
His dad will have been delighted his son settled well at his wishclub.
By the way I haven't seen all Pool matches in full, but every time I watch I see Stevie G & Dirk have a very good understanding on the pitch (wouldn't be surprised if itwas off the pitch too). Seems they're kindred spirits. What's your take on those two?

Liverpool have raided Barcelona to sign one of their prized young talents in the shape of Dani Pacheco.
The 16-year-old, nicknamed The Killer by his team-mates, was regarded as one of the best youngsters in the youth set-up at Camp Nou and only arrived as a 13-year-old from Malaga.
However, he has shunned their offer of professional terms in order to pen a three-year deal at Anfield.
Pacheco's signing is the latest in a string of youth deals tied up by the Merseyside giants in recent weeks - with Alex Kacaniklic, Marvin Purie, Mikel San Jose, Nikolai Mihailov, Krisztian Nemeth and Andras Simon all penning deals to join the club's academy ranks.
Barca youth coach Garcia Pimienta admitted losing Pacheco was a huge blow to the club.
"It is a great loss for the club because he is a forward with a lot of quality," Garcia told Sport.
"He has been our top goalscorer and has already played for the youth team.
"Alongside Thiago Alcantara and Gai Assulin, he is one of the cadets we had the most hope for, but nothing can be done anymore.
"Everything happened very suddenly."
The news of Pacheco's departure to England is another blow to Barca, who have lost a host of top youngsters to the Premier League in recent seasons.
The likes of Cesc Fabregas, Fran Merida and Gerard Pique have all turned their back on the Blaugrana to make the move to the English top-flight.

I think kuyt is just the sort of character who is liked by everyone to be honest. down to earth and not afraid to make a fool of himself so he has fitted in well
on the pitch we are yet to see the best of him but hopefully with our squad improvements during the summer we will next season. he still hasn't reproduced the sort of form we saw from him in his first few games, however the sheer work he puts in will always be a massive asset to any team and should not be undervalued

Yep, don't think Pool has seen the best of Dirk yet (in terms of shape, he always puts in the effort). Expect him to do better next season.COTR wrote:jonathan de guzman wrote:Exactly COTR.

There 1 thing Benitez doesn't seem to be aware of (enough). The longer the match last, the higher the chances are Kuyt will score. He exhausts defenders and capitalizes on that.

Very sad news about Dirk's dad, RIP.
His dad must of been very proud of him, he's player loved by all generally.

Very sad news.
I remember seeing the Dutch football awards a few years ago when Dirk got his dad on the stage to sing! He looked slightly ill then but it was a very touching moment indeed.
COTR is right in fact he got to spend good time with him because of the Summer break.

It looks like strengthening our youth team is a priority this summer. Here's a brief look at the players we've signed.
Dani Pacheco
Dani Pachecho is a 16 year old footballer. Barcelona signed him from Malaga when he was only 13 years old. He recently joined Premier League side Liverpool from Barcelona. He was considered one of their future talents, but like Fabregas, Fran Merida and a few more, he has opted to leave to play for a top Premier League team. He plays upfront, and is a promising talent who looks likely to develop into a quality player. He carries the nickname 'Killer' in reference to his finishing skills.
Alex Kacaniklic
Alexander Kacaniklic is a fifteen-year-old Swedish football player. He is a left winger currently playing for Helsingborgs IF, although he has agreed a move to Liverpool for £75,000 in the summer of 2007, having impressed the Liverpool staff during his twelve-day trial.
Kacaniklic said of his trial at Liverpool that "it was really fun. The first training session was a bit nervy, but afterwards it went very well. The coaches felt that it went very well and I came around on the wing all the time. I believe in myself and I have always dreamt about becoming a professional. It's at this age that you develop the most and the conditions are much better at Liverpool than at Helsingborgs
Marvin Purie
Marvin Purie is a striker who was recently signed from Borussia Dortmund. The promising young player will join Liverpools youth ranks later this summer.
Mikel San Jose
A highly regarded young defender from Athletic Bilbao, 18 year old Mikel San Jose was expected to progress into the second team before Liverpool snapped him up for around £250k.
"I am very excited but now I know that I have to work more each day to get in the first team." Said San Jose, on his recent transfer.
Nikolai Mihailov
Levski's goalkeeper Nikolai Mihailov signed with the 2005 European Club Champion Liverpool. Mihailov is the first Bulgarian that will play on the mythic Anfield in front of the red fans.
"I got no words. This is the best thing in my life", said the young Mihailov.
Krisztian Nemeth
Krisztián Németh (born January 5, 1989 in Győr) is a Hungarian football player who currently plays for Liverpool F.C.. He was signed from MTK Hungária FC in 2007, alongside András Simon, and is expected to initially play in the reserve team.
Krisztián was a star of the Hungary squad that reached the 2006 UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship finals in Luxembourg, and recently scored seven goals in three matches for the U19s in a mini-tournament in Cyprus.
Andras Simon
András Simon (born March 30, 1990 in Salgótarján, Hungary) is a Hungarian footballer who plays for Liverpool F.C. Simon has represented Hungary at Under-17 level. Simon signed from MTK Hungária in 2007 alongside Krisztián Németh.

I'm baffled by these Heinze rumours, firstly I can't believe United would sell him to us. Also I don't see why we need him? We have better players for CB and as a leftback he doesnt offer anything near as much going forward as Riise or Aurelio, who are both more than solid enough defensively.

I'd just like to point out that after coming on for the last 30 minutes against Singapore, Harry Kewell scored a goal, and made an assist.
Harry Kewell - 90 minutes of football, 2 goals, 1 assist
Jermaine Pennant - 1967 minutes of football, 1 goal, 4 assists

Congratulations on signing Mihaylov, although I don't think he'll be breaking into the first team for a long time, as long as Reina stays there and he keeps doing things like this:

That's the one I was thinking of. After the mistake the Levski Sofia home fans booed him non-stop and he had to be subbed at halftime.

Luis Garcia to Atletico is confirmed, for only 5 million euros
Here's a question, if Liverpool are willing to gamble 27m on Torres, why not pay a bit more and go for tried and trusted Tevez?

Garcia wasn't a left winger anyway, he played mostly on the right or behind the striker, he only played on the left last season as we basically had no one else.
I feel we do need a left winger because I refuse to put all my trust in Kewell, hope he proves me wrong but I would like to see us sign someone like Simao

Wouldn't you prefer Malouda? Or Vicente.. 2 injury prone left wingers = 1 fully fit left winger
