One of the big 4, obviously. Whoever wins the title... so...Liverpool.
Edit: cocked that up.

I'd go for Chelsea or Man u, i think they both have the greater strike force currently

What were the goal tallies for last season?
Quick overview (unbiased):
Chelsea have the most goal scoring potential (& opportunity)
Liverpool significantly improved their goal scoring abilities (Kuijt & Bellamy)
Arsenal have stayed roughly the same, in scoring potential (possibly improving only slightly with youngsters developing and Rosicky in)
ManU will do good to match last year's effort without Ruud.
Without knowing the tallies I'd say Chelsea, with Liverpool as runner's up.
But who can find/post the tallies?

I think Arsenal have lost goal threat if anything. Pires always scored 10+ a season, for example. Rosicky isn't prolific at present.
Though obviously, their youngsters will improve.

Also DD you won't like this but I think our goalscoring could improve with out Ruud.
Less chance of a 25 goal a season striker but more people chipping in (Rooney, Scholes, Ronaldo, Saha etc).

Yes, and Arsene still won't play RVP.Obispo wrote:I think Arsenal have lost goal threat if anything. Pires always scored 10+ a season, for example. Rosicky isn't prolific at present.

I just read that he preferred to start with a 60% Henry (Hnery's own words!) than an on-fire 100% RVP.
Its not that I think Arsene doesn't rate RVP, but he's over reliant on Henry. Says it all.

That's why alot of us like Crouch though, no one seems to get that. He isn't a great striker, but even if he doesn't get 10-15 assists, he plays a key part in alot of our goals, especially away from home. Defenders are automatically drawn to him and it leaves space for other people.

Could, but will it?Parks Lives wrote:Also DD you won't like this but I think our goalscoring could improve with out Ruud.

Saha will get crocked during the season, Rooney's already suspended for three games, and Ronaldo... he'll do good to score 9 goals IMO.
Where are the goals going to come from then? That was your problem last year as well. Scholes is a shadow of a player he wasboth on the pitch and in goal scoring, and Giggs and Park are the only ones you could rely on. I'm not even sure Park scored last year, but the midfield of Fletcher, O'shea, Richardson and Smith will do good to score one a piece.
Do you remember that for the first 12 games or so, only Ruud and Rooney scored!?
If you want any chance of reaching 72 goals, let alone exceed it, Ronaldo wil have to step significantly this year. Who else will?

There's no way Liverpool won't exceed 57 goals this year. Last year pool went through a pad patch of draws where no-one could score. That won't happen this year. You have Gerrard you can rely on (amongst others) and now you have a proper strike force, Kuijt who can also grind out results for you if must, and Crouch as a Plan B.
If you fail to reach 57 goals I'll eat my shoe.

@ DD.. i can see ronaldo getting more purely because with the addition of carrick and maybe hargreaves united will be a better team and will have more opportunites higher up the pitch because of it... i also think it's time for ronaldo to come of age.. i think he'll get around 13-18 this year... united score plenty against the weak teams... it's whether they can score against the big teams this year that will decide if they score more than chelsea... chelsea do it regularly so they will have to improve as will arsenal and liverpool to have a chance of outscoring chelsea IMO

Agreed completely.
And, if we don't exceed that, I'll cry like John Terry at a champions league semi-final

Its your view of it.
Saha has been fit for nearly 10 months now with no problems, yes he may pick up knocks (he's always got stuck in) but there is no reason why he should miss long spells.
Scholes had an awful first couple of months last season but as soon as he hit November last season his form picked up 10 fold and he got 3 in 8 games before his eye incident. If his performances in pre season and yesterday are anything to go by I think he'll be very influential this season and will get goals as well.
Ronaldo will score alot this season imo. Up to 15 in all competitions, 8 - 10 in the league. Even more if he is given penalties. He's been much better since the turn of last year.
Rooney will miss 3 games yes, still another 34 games of the season left though.

Like obi, I think Arsenal will probably score less this season (don't forget they did also win 1 game 7-0 last season too, which boosted their tally!), because Pires was always so reliable. Ljunberg looks a little out-of-sorts lately and I can't see him scoring as many this season.
Adebayor might score a few, but he isn't prolific.
I think it'll be between us and Man Utd. For us, I'm sure all 3 of Lampard, Ballack and Drogba will get somewhere between 10-15 (Lampard and Drogba possibly 15-20) and once Sheva gets a run going, I'm sure he'll get around 25-30 goals this season

I forgot about Ballack.
So its a straight shoot out between Lampard, Ballack, Sheva & Drogba against Scholes, Ronaldo, Rooney and Saha.
You'd certainly have the edge even more so with Robben chipping in.

I reckon United will do it this year if yesterday is how they plan on playing. If the form dips it'll be Chelsea I imagine.
We were the 9th highest scorers last season apparently, I was happy with that

All the midfield will score goals (with the exception of Makelele/Diarra).
Joe Cole and Robben will score between 5-10.
Kalou will get a similar sort of number.
SWP will hopefully get around 3-5 too.
I was just referring to the players that will get 10+
(Oh and by the way, John Terry will score between 5-8 Premiership goals this season too!)
