Oldham Athletic striker Chris Hall is to retire from professional football.

Hall had been absent since early May and was recently fined a fortnight's wages for failing to report for treatment for an injury.

But the 20-year-old, who made almost 50 appearances for Oldham, has now met club officials at Boundary Park and has opted to retire for personal reasons.

Hall's contract will be terminated but the Latics will retain compensation rights should he resume his career.

He's at Oldham though and perhaps wanted to work in the family bussiness or the like.
Besides at 20 that's an age with no consequences. he could still do anything he wants.

It happens in Europe a lot too.
