Re: Bentley pulls out of under 21's
Milner is very good.
Reo-Coker & Richardson do usually do well for the under 21's but they'll both get shown up by good opposition.
Huddlestone has been in terrible form for the last few months.

Reo-Coker is the under 21 captain. Can't see him being left out.

I know, I know....
Depends what NRC turns up - he's been playing better more recently.
It'll probably mean Noble will act as a supersub

If Bentley had been fit, Milner should have started on the left - there is no way Richardson should ever be picked ahead of him.
routledge is particularly special to be honest (T/s )
richardson is probably the better option at present - more of a team player

Re: Bentley pulls out of under 21's
We have a few problems at right back - Baines is a decent left back but all our right back options are lacking in technique.
If we want to we could play a very technically gifeted midfield - Huddleston, noble and Milner all have fantastic technique CT

So things didn't go to plan this season for WR - like Henry tearing up the massive pitch
Milner is better than Routledge - who has been treated shabbily by us.
No way is Richardson better though. Oh and Routledge also has great technique too

10 goals in 17 games isn't at all bad T/S - if he'd played 34 games (double) that would have been 20 goals - a damn good total

Wouldn't have had as many pens though
Routledge always plays well for the U21's... don't see the need to bash him in regards to this

Re: Bentley pulls out of under 21's
Young players still need to make a name, it's more important to them to play another good season in the league than to perform decent at an U-something tournament.
So in order not to risk getting injured or to start the new season tired they opt not to play in these tournaments.
Holland has lost at least 5 sure starters because of this

That's not fair Tweeds - everyone knows that Lennon's just a roadrunner who can't cross, pass or shoot!

Re: Bentley pulls out of under 21's
Bentley has proven himself to be a tart with a poor attitude here.
Pearce isn't happy. http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=470901&CPID=445&clid=5&lid=2&title=Bentley+drives+Pearce+crazy
Milner played his 60th game of the season the other day, you don't see him whinging about "fatigue". Tart, he should be excluded from the senior(and U21s) for a year IMO.

Even though I think alot of what Pearce has come out with this season at City is a lot of bollocks, he does have a good point here.

Re: Bentley pulls out of under 21's
David Bentley has shown the other side to himself again.
On one hand you have a very talented young footballer who has had a tremendous year, he looks like he can go to a Champions League team at times. However his attitude is terrible, he has displayed some serious unprofessional behavour problems here by letting his country down.
How he has pulled out of a tournament that could really showcase his talents I do not know. Maybe he thinks he is above it all.

Do you think Blackburn being in the Intertoto has anything to do with it all?

Re: Bentley pulls out of under 21's
I'm sure thats why Hughes decided to talk to Pearce in the first place, he is one of their key players so you can understand Hughes enquiring. Blankburn want Europe to keep some of their star names like Gamst and McCarthy.
I do think that youth Internationals should come ahead of the Intertoto Cup for Bentley. I am surprised that Hughes being a successful International doesn't understand Bentleys situation.

Re: Bentley pulls out of under 21's
Cesc,
he understands Bentley's situation but Hughes is looking out for #1. If Bentley goes and gets injured or (proper) fatigued, than its Hughes ' neck on the line when he isn't able to get Rovers in UEFA. THat would normally be bad enough, but if Blackburn doesn't get Europe, then MGP and McCarthy will surely leave for better things.
Call it ingeniousness, cowardice, egoistic or tactically astute, in this case its all the same.

Re: Bentley pulls out of under 21's
I see Bentley's point though - if he'd played in this, that could have been 6 games, then the intertoto could have been a further 4, then you have pre-season - he'd have been burnt out for most of the coming season.
