according to Libertad's coach, Grêmio is more Argentine than Boca. http://www.ole.com.ar/notas/2007/06/12/01436481.html

I agree. Boca is technically better, while Grêmio marks more, is more defensive.

I also agree with Markarian. Tell you what, if somehow Cienciano had reached the Final just like when they did against River a few years back, OH DO I KNOW WHERE TO PUT MY MONEY! cheers

Here's to a great Copa Libertadores Final. <Ale>

Gremio don't have any outstanding offensive player. They are a good, well organised team. Tcheco is an excellent set pieces taker.

18 months ago Gremio were very, very close to remain in the brazilian second division. They got promoted because of a miracle. Now they might conquer the Continent. Football world is totally unpredictable.

I've only seen a little of Cardozo, and he's a bit more attacking than Gago is. I really like Cardozo in the matches I saw of him ok

Final score 3-0 to Boca. Palacio, Riquelme from a free kick, and an own goal. Great atmosphere in the stadium as always.

It was also interesting to note Boca's tactics in the last 25-30 mins of the match. They were playing very much like an English team, taking the ball wide and playing early balls, or switching play from flank to flank very often. Must have been a tactical ploy to spread Gremio, who were one man short.

    Me too.

Gremio looked very flat. They'll have to pull off something major at home, but Boca are a team that can keep the possession if they have to.

Grêmio IS a flat team. they have a good, Scolari style coach though and a very good atmosphere in their stadium.

anyway, I guess they will struggle in the Brazilian league.

Tough on Grêmio that first goal which had THREE Boca players offsides. It was such an easy call for the linesman, but he let it go. Grêmio were playing very well until the linesman breached their defense. THREE Boca players offsides, yet the linesman couldn't pick one of them. lol!

Fucked up the whole Grêmio gameplan. Boca are a fine fine team. When is the bullshit gonna stop? I've been watching them for many years. I won't argue their impressive pedigree of triumphs. It would just be nice to see them win without any ref/linesman help.

People will say "what about their other two goals?" "they won 3-0 and deserved to win". That first offside goal they got opened Grêmio up, totally messing up their tactics. Grêmio were too nervous, they gave Boca too much respect.

Teams should take note of how Cienciano play against Boca or River. Cienciano aren't in awe of anyone. When they lose, it is not because they were afraid or too timid. Just play against them without any respect, no fear. Just take the game to them. Brasileiros are too afraid of the Argentinians it seems. <Ale> Biggrin

Best $200 I've spent this year! fucking awesome game. Riqueeelmee, Riqueeelmee...Granted the first goal was on offside(saw the replay when I got home...around 3 Buenos Aires time) and we were lucky.

Indeed it wasn't a very nice game from a neutral point of view, but to quote on of my favourite coaches "Finals don't have to be played good or bad, have to be won"

It's still 90 minutes more and I fear a lot both the stadium and height from the Gremio players

Oh Nery Cardozo is Cr@p. Absolutely Cr@p. Trust me. Not Cr@p in the way Martin Palermo is, that he only scores goals in Boca...no, no, Nery Cardozo is seriously Cr@p

Gremio didn't change their after conceding the first goal. Sandro got a red card in the beggining of the second half after committing a stupid unnecessary foul in the midfield. That fucked up the whole Grêmio gameplan.

BTW Boca didn't need any help from the ref to beat Palmeiras in 2000, 2001 and Santos in 2003.

The atmosphere at Olimpico right now is simply amazing, one of the best I've ever seen, and there are still 90 minutes before the kick off. Lucas is fully recovered from his knee injury and will start. IMO Boca will win the title, but they will lose the match.

Disappointing match so far. Boca time wasting started in the first minutes and Grêmio can't create good chances.

Riquelme is having a lot of freedom to create, Boca may score first.

Incredible how the fowards missed the header and the rebound.

I hope to see some goals this has a 0-0 written all over it.
