Drenthe was poor tonight and missed a penalty.

Drenthe plus 10 million euros. ok

Well at this moment Zuiverloon is almost on par with Drenthe. Another product of the Endless conveyor of Feyenoord talent.

And Drenthe showed BALLS by taking a second....were Babel was scared.

Drenthe was dissapointing, especially when you realise he was playing against Hoyte. Lots of aimless balls into the penalty area and then he missed a penalty. So the price has gone up, for Mr x factor, its now £12m + Drenthe. It's still the deal of the season.

Stuart Pearce & England for the fair play award !

When Foppe was telling the ref that Taylor *had* to take a penalty Pearce joined in to agree on that, because "those are the rules and fair is fair" ok

It's only justice that Taylor scored after that Ale

Yeah I've rarely seen a shoot out like it. Couldnt believe England actually managed to score so many on the trot. Shame couldnt save any either! The 2 WORST penalty nations in Europe finally giving a shoot out lasting longer than 2 minutes.

Not really, on the balance of the game I thought u guys were better - our players just look jaded and tired after the first half, as they have done throughout the tourny. The Prem season is far too long and gruelling and it showed.

I'd be gutted if it were the WC semis, but this is isnt life or death football, it U21's and about showcasing potential future talents. Of course it'd been nice to win it, but its not like we've lost to Otto's boys - beating the Germans in the play offs makes ANY loss in the competition a hell of a lot easier to stomach Biggrin <Ale>

Gefeliciteerd Dutchies, amazing entertainment, incredible stuff, and great blood-and-guts stuff from the English too. <Ale>

Coulda told you a shoot-out between Holland and England would last all night – awesome.

(Slightly irritating English commentary – as ever – over the Taylor penalty-taking issue, going on about how de Haan should be carded (which he apparently was) as if that was at all relevant esp. for a coach; the worrying thing was that he had to intervene to prevent an injustice being done!)

    Get to the final, guys!!

Well done Holland, I think it is fair to say that they were the better side last night. Although I am disappointed that England lost, I must admit that I think England winning the tournament or reaching the final would have masked over some serious problems. In truth we didn't really outplay a single side in this tournament. We have some good young players, but our progress was mostly secured through solid defending and being stronger and more powerful than our opponents early on in games.

It worries me that like our senior side, we seem incapable of passing and keeping possession like other top teams. For me, this competition has shown that English youngsters are still playing a style which simply is not successful at the highest levels of international football. These youngsters will go into the senior squad in future years and continue to play the same unsuccessful style.

We can't just congratulate ourselves on a brave effort and a decent overall result from this championship, but really need to question why, when other teams pass and play with flair, our tactics are still long balls and capitalising on set-pieces. If we can't fix this at these younger age groups then I worry that we will continue to endure frustration in the future at international level.

Ha ha ha. Deano, like u, is fiercely patriotic. So long as you use more subtle phrasing, rather than "f@ck u u dirty english c u n t s", you'll be fine.

Its about subtlety Bepe my man. For instance, should I want to tease the germans, its no good bringing up the war - far too obvious. little jibes about bumbags, white socks and sandals, mullets, handlebar moustaches and other such well worn stereotypes usually does the job <Ale>
