TM -- I know Mallorca have a decent record in the Bernabeu but I don't think we need 12 players tomorrow.

If he can stay fit, I'd love to have him. Neither Robinho nor Reyes have been consistently good on the left for us. Still need to find someone for the right though.

Zactly....
Perhaps La Liga fits him better to stay fit. A league where you get less murder attempts than in the EPL...

i hope we get him because he is imo the most consistent winger. he keeps on dribbling and i have yet to see anyone stop him. and he can play on the right wing aswell so i would be fine with robben. allthough i know we will start with raul i think we need guti for this one since we will need those killer passes to unluck mallorcas defence.

99% certain that Capello will play the following:
---------------------Casillas
Salgado---S. Ramos---Cannavaro---R. Carlos
Beckham----Emerson----Diarra----Robinho
-------------Raul-----v. Nistelrooy
Guti, Reyes, and Higuain for the second half if things go wrong.

The rumours about Kaka won't die -- today Marca is talking about an €80m. offer plus an annual wages of €12m. plus he would get to keep 100% of his image rights! And who knows, Emerson and/or Cannavaro could enter into the deal at some point. We'll see...

the real reason he seems to go down like he has been shot approximately 10 times per game
a robben and robinho diving squad would be frightening

Just wanted to add that those 10-12m EUR wages offered for Kaka are after tax, he'd not only be the most expensive transfer as far as the transfer fee is concerned, he'd earn more than anyone else also.

Yes, not to say an extremely high sum.
How high is the income tax rate in Spain for footballers? I know it's lower than in other leagues due to the special status of footballers as "artists".
Depending on the tax rate, and if you count in the hand money that would definitely have to be paid also, we'd be talking about 150-200m EUR for this transfer alone (4-5 year contract). A lot of money.

He's worth a lot of money, but this amount seems ludacris, not to mention other players will be ticked off and want to be on the same sort of wages.
last i read was that he would earn 7Million pounds a year

Yes, after tax. He already earns 9-10m EUR at Milan, but not after tax. With that wage, he'd be the highest paid footballer in the game.
Again, a lot of money.

I suppose thats our USP (Unique selling point), otherwise i don't see him leaving Milan.
Not too sure about all that money, and this is just his wages, the transfer free wil be huge, and we need a LB, CB, RW, LW, ST...

In another year Diego will probably cost just as much. This is actually our biggest problem in the last 5-6 years. We wait too long to sign up young talents...

Well, Diego is not for sale this season, no matter what sums are offered. And more importantly, he does not want to leave himself anytime soon, he gave a lot of interviews recently praising his current club and clearly saying that he does not intend to leave. On the contrary, it looks like he is recommending us to other Brazilian talents like Carlos Alberto who look like they will join us soon.
Diego said that he is 22 and still has a lot to learn (-> still has time to move to one of the big clubs later), exactly what I have been saying for ages now.

P.S.: If Real are really smart, money isn't really that much of a problem for one of the richest clubs in the world, they would let Diego continue to improve his game in Bremen, let him mature. There is no other club where young talent can flourish as well as here. Once he is ready to join Real, once he has fully established himself not just in the league, but in the Selecao as well, he will be ready. But not earlier. Joining Real now would ruin him, or at least slow down his developement.
Diego has WPOTY potential, but he still has a long way to go.
P.P.S.: According to some rumours, Real asked for a price a few months ago, and Allofs bluntly said 55m EUR.

i remember seeing diego for santos back when he was 17 and he was clearly a huge talent. at that time i think he did better then robinho allthough robinho developed his game but it was still impressive at such a age to be dominating the south american CL. we should have bought both diego and robinho. anyway i think diego needs one more year in germany and then we should get him. we dont need him at his best since that would mean too much money.
about kaka im sure nothin will happen because the negotiating is contract wise and that was never the problem. milan even pulled out of the emerson deal because of it so they wont let us get kaka untill he says it himself.

Good job he came good at the right time then.Torrente wrote:Target Man SSK wrote:Minor. Reyes or Higuain can come in.
Reyes has been pure $h!t all season and Higuain is ineffective in the wing. Also, he would have to play in the left wing since Beckham will obviously be in the right.
I know that on paper we should comfortably beat Mallorca, but I don't like taking chances. Robinho has been the key to our attack in several games and we certainly need him for the last game of the season IMO.

A few months ago, I said that it would be the most ironic thing if this Real Madrid side under Capello would win the championship in the end, after all they've been through this year. And they really pulled it off, simply unbelievable, especially with this exciting ending.
I'm definitely no fan of Capello, never was a fan of his football philosophy, but you have to show respect to him and this Madrid side that was written off and ridiculed so often. It's a great achievement to win the title against a Barcelona team that was dominating the league for months.
Congratulations guys!

Congrats, Madrid!!
Its kinda wierd, I had actually predicted how this season will go before it started.... that capello's team will be more prudent and keep within a reachable distance of Barca till the last 1-2 months, and then become more clinical and sneak the title in the end....
A lot of people thought I had gone crazy on this MB
Capello just did a Capello. He has done this quite a few times now for it to be a coinsidence.

Woohoo! have to say I thought all hope was lost at 1-0 down, especially with RVN off, but Madrid did it the hard way like so many times during the season, I just have to say Cannavaro was absolutely fantastic tonight, Ramos was great, Salgado as well, Diarra had one of his best games and the sub from Capello really worked, it took bollocks and Capello did it.
I'm delighted for Beckham as well, a great way to go out
Madrid are the champions!

That's a bit easy... if we had played just 70% of last year, Madrid wouldn't be champion. This season was a freak season since all the big teams failed at the same time. Usually one of them would have won this league a couple of weeks ago.

You won't hear this from me again, so treasure it: Congrats. I can't believe we threw it away, and I can't believe how many comebacks you pulled off. At least we know you used up all your luck and spirit for the next 3 seasons
Here's hoping to more f@ck-ups from Calderon and Pedja in the transfer window
