Glen Johnson vs Yuri Zhirkov

Both Chelsea and Liverpool were linked to these two players in the summer. Chelsea ended up signing Zhirkov for around £18m and Liverpool signed Johnson for £17.5m.

Batman wants to know which club in your opinion made the better signing?

Maybe you think Liverpool should have signed Yuri Zhirkov instead of Johnson?

Due to Rafanomics and the Crouch transfer, Johnson only actually cost £8.50 and 4 million Nectar points.

it seems you don't understand the question.

I am not asking who is the better player but who is the better signing because both players cost around the same amount and both clubs wanted the two players.

Liverpool have signed Johnson and now will probably sell Arbeloa and keep Dossena.

But would they have been stronger by signing Zhirkov and keeping Arbeloa?

Batman we have already explained the other factors in Johnson's signature ie Crouch money resulting in us having a bigger transfer kitty left, CL regulations, Arbeloa only having a year left on his contract.

Now signing a left midfielder from Russia for £18m cash is not going to solve any of those problems is it

how many times have you seen Zhirkov play at left back?

Well unlike everybody of you I have seen him play in reality a few months ago...and I expected something much better tbh. He got skinned by Wijnaldum, then again thats one of the most promising talents in Europe

Batman has seen Yuri Zhirkov play for CSKA Moscow and Russia.

For Chelsea he is going to be back up for A Cole and maybe start ahead of Malouda.

If Rafa doesn't win the league this season then we will all know i was right.

Because Chelsea were not interested in Valencia.

Man Utd were not interested in Johnson or Zhirkov.

Valencia can not play fullback.

Fullback is a weak area in the liverpool team.
