If Liverpool didn't pay the full 17m because of Crouch and got starting right back and if Zhirkov is really only going to be Cole's backup and possibly not even be ahead of Malouda for 18m, then it has to be Johnson doesn't it?

It is very fashionable to go for Jonny Foreigner because we know less about them. In this case though, I think its justified. After Arshavin, Zhirkov is far and away Russia's best player.

I've not seen too much of Russia, but I thought Anyukov was just as, if not more impressive than Zhirkov in the Euros. I know Akinfeev is highly rated also.
I like the look Dzagoev as well. Imagine he will end up in the Premiership as well, or possibly the Bundesliga.

He is definitely one of their best and most important players, but I wouldn't say that he is "far and away" above the others. Anyukov, Akinfeev, Pogrebnyak etc. really aren't too shabby either. Russia have a strong team.
