He had been at Villa for more than four years after joining from Watford but only had one year left on his contract.
Young, who is reported to have cost United about £17m, becomes the club's second signing of the summer following the arrival of Phil Jones.

I cant believe a Young v Henderson debate hasnt started yet.
How do people expect U*d to line up next season ? will Nani and young start...might Nani go ?

Well the question wasnt about us replicating their success its about how close we are to them now and looking at our squads i dont think we are light years away do you ?

I think the thing is your team ethic grows over time and it was obvious ours did last season and by the end of it we looked like a different side to the one that started the season, we had really gelled and that helped us win 7 of the last 8 games of the season winning the FA Cup and finishing 3rd.

Berbatov will go I guess, but they can't recoup that much from him.

Their bond doesn't have to be repaid / renegotiated until 2017 so they can continue on their merry way until that point as they'll have plenty of money in the bank
Either that or Steve Bruce will continue to fund them

It does certainly grow over time but you finishing 3rd was down to the rest of the challengers being pretty woeful. Chelsea should have done a lot better, Arsenal completely capitulated (nothing new there), Spurs and Liverpool weren't good enough over the whole season to challenge.
In terms of comparing with United though you're still some way off, but next season will be a big one and IMO the pressure will be on City to at least seriously take United all the way 'til the end of the season.

Just hope playing deeper than he did at Porto/Germio/Brazil U-17, injuries and lack of playing time has hampered his development too much and that he can still reach his true potential.
