I don't understand his obsession with playing in the centre. Playing just off the central player on the right suits him so much more. It's not like the old days playing 4-4-2 where he is stuck out on the right of midfield, he's playing as an attacker and has much more success being able to run in or outside the full back and using his pace to run the channels from a deeper position.

Nice effort. Walcott's done well since coming on.

    ------------

That will do nicely. Always good to get one over Fat Sam and a pretty decent performance overall. Still a fair bit of work to do with our defensive organisation but plenty of positives.

It's because he's hugely inconsistent and runs like a spastic when he has the ball.

bad time for Gibbs to get injured, word on the street was that he could start against San Marino on Friday. What a legend.

I know it's not cool to admit it, but I rather rate Cazorla, he is such a legend. Do Arsenal fans even care about Fabregas anymore? I certainly wouldn't swap him for Cazorla, legend though he is.

West Ham have been better than expected this season, and it's so refreshing to see a newly promoted side that doesn't try to pass the ball and play good football. Liverpool might just get their £35m back at this rate.

A satisfying match and result against the type of the team who have exposed our vulnerabilities in the past. I thought WHam played well overall and for a period after their goal it looked as if our defensive uncertainties were creeping back (both Ramsey and Jenkinson at fault for giving Diame the space). However, benefits of having Mertesacker back was palpable and Verm had a better game than of late.

What impresses me about Cazorla apart from his technical skills is how good he is at in holding the ball despite being the smallest player on the pitch - there was a moment in 1H when he had the ball in WHam penalty box, was challenged and could have gone down but regained his balance and went on. Contrast that with Noble's blatant dive (which Dowd bought) later on in the game. Only foreign players dive, eh?

Other standouts for me were Arteta - apparently according to Opta
There have been seven instances of a PL player completing 100+ passes this season & 3 of those have been Mikel Arteta. Metronome.
.Giroud, however, MOTM for me - out-Carrolled Carroll against opponents who are supposed to put wussy foreign players in their place, for the equaliser, and for his assists. Hopefully this will prove cathartic for him.

Tough game today that will really test our new style of play. Stoke are going to have 10 men behind the ball so we're going to need to have a bit more cutting edge to go with our sexy passing.

Can't see us doing well today. Defoe usually scores against us, expect him to get a couple.

Surprisingly Benteke kept in ahead of Bent and Albrighton ahead of Zog. Means we got impact players to bring on, I suppose.

I don't think I've yet seen a game where Delph hasn't got booked for diving in too enthusiastically. Really needs to learn what refs will tolerate.

The Newcastle players might as well be in red shirts the amount of assistance they are giving to Man Utd so far in the game. Absolutely woeful start. Two down already and it should be more.

I switched off, i've got better things to do than watch that shite.

Last season our transfer policy looked awesome, everyone wanked over it, now it is being exposed as clueless. We buy technical players for a long ball manager, what the fuck is Pardew going to do with 5'6 Anita and 5'8 Cabaye, they are useless to him. Plus we don't have a target man so the long balls never stick, and we failed to buy any defenders because we were trying to be smart.

If Howard Webb has seen it it would have been a red(though it was worth a yellow at most to me), he doesn't make much of an effort to hide his allegiances. He has his reputation for a reason. <Ale>
