Well no penalties for Man Utd at the Bridge this season, but another robbery from the officials to go with the 3-3 last season
All of this since Slur Alex complained about officials always favouring Chelsea in this fixture.

Great first hour, and then the officials ruined the game and gifted Fergie the win. I've no love for Chelsea, but that second half 'performance' leaves a sour taste. Bet Ferguson still finds something to complain about.

Chicharito offside goal was very similar to Arteta yesterday's winning goal. Like for referees it would be too difficult to understand that if attacker is behind goalkeeper it's still an offside.

Truly pathetic, spiritless second half from us. Hanging on against a newly promoted side who we should have blown away by at least 4 or 5 goals in the first half.
Worrying how incapable this team is at putting in a decent 90 minute performance currently.
I've yet to see Dempsey or Sigurddson show anything close to their Fulham / Reading form to date. Both nothing but water carriers at the moment.
Remarkable that we're fourth, really. We seem to be doing better at grinding results out despite playing pretty poorly.
Once he gets the playmaker and inside forward that he wants, AVB should have us functioning a whole lot better. Playing as we are isn't sustainable for a season.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson: "The decision the referee has to make is whether the striker has chosen to go down. He was through on goal - I don't know why he has gone down. I think it's his own fault.
"It's been 10 years since we have won down here. We had a good record until Jose [Mourinho] came along and spoiled the party.
"We've never got breaks down here and had some terrible decisions against us in the last few years. But today we have got a little break for the goal - Chicharito may have been offside."

Getting a bit fed up of some peoples argument that it's harsh to slag off refs when they get so much else right... It's like saying "yeah he cost the company a few hundred grand, but his filing is spot on"

Re: Premier League 27/28 October 2012
the incident that saw Ivanovic sent off, there was a very similar incident in the Everton/Liverpool games when Jagielka cynically brought down Sterling but was only given a yellow.
The Ivanovic situation was much less cynical, if anything Young had to have slowed down to receive a challenge in order to go down.
Refs invite criticism when they make a game all about themselves, Marriner booked Osman and Sterling for pretty tame offenses and as a result every time Sterling went near the ball when Everton were in possession the home fans and players were baying for him to be sent off.
Clattenburg was certain Torres dived and sent him off - ignoring the fact that Evans dangerous challenged warranted evasive action and the fact that there was contact.

Re: Premier League 27/28 October 2012
It's not just that the referee's are shit, it's also that when they make mistakes there is no acknowledgement and explanation. The whole process is fucked up, RVP's elbow on Cabaye for example, all we got was Howard Webb looking at it again and saying "not violent conduct", end of story, despite the evidence contradicting that. Whoever is in charge at the FA should have slapped him about, but the FA don't seem to feel any embarrassment over these things when they should. They consistently look amateurish in these situations.

Suprised to see them sticking up for United
Glenn - Jagielka yellow was spot on, Sterling would never have got anywhere near the ball (miles overhit) so wouldn't have had a goal scoring opportunity.
Don't think Jagielka knew that when the ball was 1st played though so very cynical and he didn't even need to do it.

What a great game
Loved the drama and especially since I watching with two anti-Man Utd fans with one of them being a bitter bitter Liverpool fan. That really made it easy to enjoy. Chelsea looked pretty good after the initial 20-30 mins where Man Utd had them under control.
You can't hold Man Utd down

Love Fergie's bbc interview on the Torres red card. Basically, she was asking for it going out in a skirt. If she doesn't want to be raped she should stay in.

Ivanovic/Young wasn't denying a goalscoring opportunity. Ivanovic was guilty of denying Young the opportunity to dive for a penalty, which is a yellow.

This is a brilliant tactic, and so in right now. If a referee chloroforms you and puts it in your botty you're much more likely to get results by playing the race card than by crying rape.

Stupid complaint by Chelsea, just bitter they lost the game. It's not like footallers swear at referees or a minority using racist abuse. Fair play to Clattenburg if he told Mikel to f off or something a long those lines. Referess are crowded all game and pushed into position, all kicks off when a ref actually stands up to these 100grand a week players.

The freekick (Gerrard sat down as soon as Osman breathed on him) should never have been given in the 1st place and Coates used Jagielka as a spring before knocking it down.
Not forgetting that Suarez should have gone for that ridiculous stamp on Distin's heel.

1) Freekick was debatable - 50/50 call.
2) Coates' jump was in no way a foul
3) Suarez's 'stamp' was 100% accidental
4) Everton also scored a goal from a throw in that should have been given the other way
Cheers

Re: Premier League 27/28 October 2012
From the Guardian.
No need for Sunderland to be coy about their shyness
Sunderland can make legitimate claim to be the least watchable side in history; in nine games this season, they have mustered a grand total of 12 shots on goal, eight of them from Steven Fletcher. For context, Stoke, Reading and Villa are next lowest with 30. And yet they're not actually a bad side, nor a side playing to avoid defeat; it is just that Stéphane Sessègnon, their chief creator and outstanding player last season is horrifically out of form, which is exacerbating the weaknesses of his team-mates; Fletcher is a finisher but unlikely to fashion his own chances, James McClean too one-footed and Adam Johnson taking time to settle in. In that context, Martin O'Neill deserves credit for ensuring that his players defend properly more than criticism for their attacking shortcomings. Once Sessègnon rediscovers his touch, Sunderland will improve not only in output but in style.
Disgrace.
