The Big Bad Belgium thread

Germany have a shit coach, so all the players they have are more or less worthless.

This isn't about Germany. It's the Belgium hype that gets on my tits, seriously. If it was just the hipsters, it wouldn't be a problem. But the Belgians are starting to believe their own hype and have become a bit insufferable lately. If you live close to the Beglian border, you'll understand what I mean.

But this isn't really an emotional issue, but rational. Belgium have a fine generation of players, but they are not as good as they are made to be.

Their attacking midfielders are very talented, but even them are not on the level of those you mentioned. What have they done on the highest level yet?

But again, the major difference is the central midfield. They don't have the same level of quality there, they lack a world class distributor, for example. 'Other Ausrtria' have three of those, four if you count Lahm as a midfielder.

First of all Belgium are NOT hipster anymore, they were hipster when only me and Hlebagone noticed them. Now they are the Wreckin Ball of the football world, everyone have an opinion about them these days. 

As for Portugal, they always do that, they will win the play-offs anyway.

Must say, Belgiums strength in depth is pretty good for such a small country. Infact their depth is their strong point, their weakness is that there isnt one player that really stands out. They lack a HSWHW.  But with talents like akkali, Januzaj, Perreira, Musonda Jr., Tielemans Torgan Hazard etc. Who knows.

As for their midfield, it's actually pretty good. Besides during a tourney the defence is more important. Is their a better pairing then Vertonghen-Kompany?

Holland-Belgium would indeed be a good match, though the rivalry is one sided as hell. I remember 2002 when Holland werent there, and thats only what mattered to them, yet Holland supported Belgium during that tournament.

Agree that their defence will most definitely help them next year. But the last thing they lack is Van Persie, seriously...

They don't have a player to dictate tempo, a player with fine passing and vision in the centre of the park. They're a bit similar to France in this regard.

Well you clearly havent seen Defour, vastly underrated player. Like it or not their attack atm is still Everton-Villa-Everton with a Chelsea sub. So they could do with HSWHW As long as they stay away from Dembele and Fellaini!

Perhaps it's best they get QF/SF during next summer and going for gold in France.

Ramsey snatched a draw for Wales...Belgium were alot better obviously, but it shows again, that they lack a HSWHW. And when you play all those EPL players you are gonna have trouble in breaking sides down.

Belgium have an awesome squad, but is Gary Wilmot the man to get the best out of them? You'd expect any of the ambitious top managers to look at the players they have and fancy that job.

Well so far his record is pretty damn good, nobody wanted that job a couple of years ago cause even though it was talented for years, it didnt came out of it. Ohh and the Belgian FA pay fuck all, hence Advocaat left them for a job in Russia.

I think Januzaj can go to the WC, makes more sense to take him rather then Fellaini. As long Wilmots dont buy the EPL hype I can't see it go wrong for them. He can field a football team and a progressive team, how many countries can do that?

I still don't know how they will do without any legit full back on highest level.

But for small country their squad depth is generally impressive... except for full backs of course.

No, he was being an obnoxious German again. Yes they are shite when they play Fellaini, but fat chance, a midfield of Defour-Witsel-Debruyne might lack in name and fame, but is really good.

The likes of Fellaini over Nainggolan, that's hard to understand. Belgium need a better coach, I have a feeling they will disappoint in the world cup inspite of being in the easiest group.

Personally I think its a very balanced squad..they can field both a football team and an EPL team. For a nation that was last at a tourny when even Scotland was there this is a good squad. Shame they will either play Portugal or Krautistan in the next round.

I agree. They have very good offensive and defensive players. They still lack a striker though. Lukaku is too young.
