Signed on loan Moses and Song, bought Jelavic for £3 million, and Michail Antonio for £7 million.

"Late paperwork", so basically a few favours/brown envelopes will be exchanged and the big club will be allowed to sign the player after the deadline, that's how it usually works.
I know you're bitter kimbo but actually the LFP refused to register the player and said that "the rules apply to everybody". Real Madrid aren't appealing either. They know they were late. Of course they are blaming Man Utd but that's a different story altogether.

Re: Todays Transfer Rumours
ooh Lescott. It was inevitable he'd sign for us one day, been linked for years as a childhood Villa fan. Not a huge fan of his and he might be a bit past it, but adds some needed experience there and is always useful for getting the odd goal from corners (always fucking scored against us). Richards is bound to get injured before long.
And now Ilori on loan as well. seems a bit overkill at CB as we got Richards, Clark, Lescott, Okore + Senderos (unless he's going somewhere).

Re: Todays Transfer Rumours
Song is a good signing. Don't know anything about Antonio but Moses and Jelavic are pointless buys. Average players that won't take you to the next level. However Kouyate and Payet make this a very good window for WHAM.
City have done the best business. Yes they spent a lot but Sterling and De Bruyne are massive upgrades on Navas and Nasri. Otamendi will be good as well.
Chelsea did well to get Pedro and I think Falcao will prove to be a great signing as well.
Swansea have made some good signings as usual.
West Brom and Bournemouth have spent more (net) than Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs. It's no wonder those 3 teams hardly ever do anything of note any more - no ambition at all. Arsenal don't really have any excuses either - they can always offer CL football, London and a sexy stadium.
United could have done better but like us the signings can go either way at the minute. They didn't have to sell players to buy though.

In Spurs' case, building a 61,000 seater stadium in London I wouldn't consider to be not doing anything of note....
From our perspective, we could definitely have spent more this transfer window, and we have certainly made a mistake in not having signed a back up natural striker to Kane, but generally speaking I'm happier that we don't sign anyone at all than panic buy, which I don't think we have done this season. We've signed players we needed to sign, didn't sign a couple of players in positions we could have signed, but once you start panic buying you end up with players on big wages which take ages to offload. It's not terminal for us to wait until January or even next summer if necessary as the expectation isn't to break top 4 this season. Was worried we would start signing the likes of Moses for the sake of it today.
What we need more than anything is patience in the manager and these (young) players now we've pretty much shifted all the big money dead wood. It may get worse before it gets better, but trying to buy our way into the top 4 is simply not a feasible option.

Re: Todays Transfer Rumours
Moses was actually v good for Stoke last season, can be a useful player. And Jelavic has some nous, useful player to have on bench. West Ham look like they got a good squad now, should be looking at upper-mid table.
Spurs playing a risky game with such a young squad - it may be a good game to play long term but could be a rocky season and I don't know how patient fans would be if they found selves in bottom half. Strange to go so focused on Berahino - surely other good forwards out there who could've been considered as alternatives.

Re: Todays Transfer Rumours
I also think Moses and Jelavic can be quite useful for West Ham - they don't have someone like Moses (and he was very good for Stoke, like Debaser mentioned) and Jelavic at least will help during Valencia absence.
But didn't West Ham get Adebayor too? Just to f**k up things?
Some players will have a difficult road "back home - Saido "I will never play for WBA again" Berahino is the most standout candidate, but also Wanyama pissed off Southampton fans. At least Stones was professional on the pitch despite his transfer request.
Regarding Everton transfers - happy with Deulofeu, Cleverley and Lennon (4m pounds sounds much better than 9m asked 2 months ago by Tottenham), but Mori is a huge, huge risk. Central defender from South America for almost 10m pounds is just asking for a trouble.
Everton needed one more creative player though - we now have abundance of wingers, but only Barkley who can play as "10".

Thing is, Martinez and Everton did everything they could to protect Stones.
I don't see how isolating a player from the rest of the group does anybody any favours.

It's sad that we're going to need a couple more windows to rebuild the squad. There's just so much waste that needs to go.
Elliot
Williamson
Taylor
Tiote
Gouffran
Obertan
Riviere
Marveaux
Good
Vuckic
Ferguson
Don't all rush at once.
Still need a CB, LB, and CM to replace Clogback.

It's Newcastle's fault for buying them in the first place. I seen on Sky Sports News yesterday that Aston Villa signed 12 players this summer, how are you meant to gel as a team if you just throw money round every summer on like 10 new players? Why not sign 2 or 3 better players instead. There is so much shite floating around the DPL , it is unbelievable.

Controversial! The problem with us obviously isn't signing alot of players, not long ago we went 18 months without signing anyone, part the problem is giving long contracts to players in order to avoid having to buy players(Williamson, Taylor), the previous manager keeping his favourites around(Elliot, Gouffran, Obertan, Tiote), a lack of a plan when it comes to academy players(Ferguson, Vuckic, Good). Alot of contracts are running out next summer though fortunately.

Of course, big turnover every year is not ideal, but this is an extreme case - I don't remember us ever signing this many in one window before. Combination of new manager wanting to overhaul things & enforced changes. And tbf a big squad overhaul is probably needed if you've finished just above bottom 3 for several years running.
Enforced changes: no way we would want to have wanted to sell Delph & Benteke but in both cases they had clause in contract met & the players wanted to go (you can say why have the clause, but probably otherwise they wouldn't have signed the contracts and gone cheaper/free so what can you do?). Tried to keep Cleverley but he was on loan and chose Everton over us. Vlaar didn't sign new contract & got injured anyway. So immediately that was 4 first teamers needing replacements.
We got £30m or so from Benteke and you could say why not find a £30m player to replace him with, but it's not really feasible - who can we attract in that price bracket? if they are genuine top class, bigger clubs will be in for them, otherwise you are likely overpaying and will be pissing money up the wall. So the money gets split between 3 or 4 signings in the 7-10m bracket and that spreads the risk (most likely some will work, others won't). You also need some numbers & experience which explains signings like Lescott and Sinclair. Soon adds up.

Some good points. I was just using Aston Villa as an extreme example. I genuinely believe that PL clubs sign too many average players, they would be better off promoting youth to fill in some gaps and then spending the money they save on better players than they normally buy.

Re: Todays Transfer Rumours
January is approaching rapidly. Time for some transfers rumours/news.
Looks like Norwich will buy Naismith from us for around 8m pounds. He is clearly not in Martinez first team plans (rightfully, as we play way too technical football to have someone like him playing as #10, he is useless outwide), so this would be a decent fee.
Of course in perfect world we would spend this 8m (or less) and get some competent goalkeeper... but I don't really see it happening.

We don't need anyone apparently. I'm sure our youth team will continue to get us by in the cups while a lone Benteke hammers them home in the league. Hopefully Mignolet doesn't get injured though or we might as well start every game 2-0 down. Think about that - me not wanting Simon Mignolet to get injured. Shit.

Shelvey's a curio. Got some talent but there's a whiff of Stephen Ireland about him. Seems like the type who'll never quite manage to apply it consistently.
