it started off with an Atlético win over Villarreal with goals from Zé Castro, Torres and Aguero after Fuentes gave Villarreal a lead.

now starting Valencia - Athletic.

game of the weekend must be the closer. Top of the table clash between defending champs Barça against one of their Angstgegner Zaragoza. They are currently 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

Morientes is the kind of player you find out how good he is once he's left. Amazing how well he does everywhere he goes tho.

just seen the highlights from the Atletico-Villarreal match.

Red card for José Mari from a stupid challenge. He went down with an Atletico player and while falling kicked his opponent in the head.

Also, dangerous and extremely stupid challenge with two foot lunge by Cygan against Torres, which resulted in a penalty that Torres scored. However, he had to leave the field early in the 2nd half from the injury from that Cygan challenge.
Villarreal aren't going anywhere this season, that much is clear.

Good win for Atletico too, apparently Aguero's goal was brilliant.

Earlier in the week I was thinking to myself "I think they'll beat Villarreal on the weekend and turn their season around", and my hunch proved right. Too bad I didn't back it up in my predictions though! They played some really good stuff (at least in the 1st half, I switched to Milan-Roma after that), absolutely dominated possession too.

Aguero's goal was good. He chipped the outcoming Barboza after he was put through with a through pass by ¿?.

I remember this boy very well from his performances for spain in the the u-20 tournament two years ago; very tall, good on the ball and very good in the air too

that had a hint of offside about it. However, when in doubt, play on.

Yeh it looked a bit offside. still Albiol should have done better imo.

he's in a bit of a golden moment. He seemed to be just OK at Malaga (I suppose it was difficult to shine there) but now they seem to be calling for him at Valencia, RM, Inter, and who knows who else.

He is a great header, has good anticipation and can also play as a DM apparently. He played very well against Villa recently, he had been injured for a few weeks I think and scored a couple of important goals already.

The only Getafe game I watched this season was against Real madrid, and he was quite good in that, but then again so was their entire defence (and team!).

He seems to be highly rated, and no doubt his age (he's 21) has a big part to play in that. But I still think we'll have to wait and see how he plays the rest of the season. With regards to rumours, the latest one I've heard is Alexis to Milan.

more than trying to outscore them, we have to try and defend against them for a change. Maybe we'll see Barça play a bit more defensively.

Yeah if we're solid at the back then we can play without worries up front. Extra pressure won't help. I quite like SPORT's front page...it says "GANAR para acabar todas las dudas, GANAR para recuperar el liderato en la liga, GANAR para demostrar quien es el campeon". Let's hope the Camp Nou crowd is right behind the team, this is a big game.
