And yet we won 2-0 last time we met without Ronaldo. But hey Liverpool have the best players best manager and best setup so yea no contest there. Rolling Eyes

Probably going to be alot more in the next week or so as well. Neutral

May need to start up a banter thread and keep it in there, even though it always goes further than banter.

    Exception that proves the rule.

I'm bored of United-Liverpool threads anyways to be honest. We have bigger fish to fry this season. Our game against you next week is nothing but an unwelcome distraction.

Only player of Liverpool's midfield that we can use is Sissoko and this isnt a wind up or biased opinion.

    ok

Might as well just keep this thread for banter. Saves writing in 2 different threads.

United midfield minus Ronaldo is below average - mid table standard I'd say

The 2-0 win back at Old Trafford means nothing - came at a time where our world cup stars were underperforming - in Gerrard's case he was playing ever since Istanbul non-stop. Hardly surprising Sissoko was our best player that day..

United had Fletcher, Giggs, Scholes and Carrick - World cup flops and national team rejects who were on top form. Clever tactics by Fergie I'd say...

    0-0

Barely any shots on target and one team will have a barely half decent shout for a penalty turned down. Everyone on here will argue about it then.

... By the way, Ronaldo dived. Gerrard's was a stonewall penalty though. Ref's a manc.

    Back-up:
    Park - Hargreaves - Bodmer - Quaresma*

    In Case of Emergency:
    Fletcher - O'Shea - Smith - Richardson

    Bat ,
    I will take a midfielder , a winger and a striker.

We may get Makoun and Bodmer for the same price as Hargreaves (though Lille wont be too keen).

Indeed. It's crazy though will not sign all those players and keep the crap aswell. You need one team and a half not three. a winger and a central midfielder, carrick is there to replace scholes in the coming years.

How many times are we going to have this arguement? You're top of the league inspite of your midfield, not because of it. Ronaldo has dragged you there. If you win the league this season then it'll be the most average team to win it since Blackburn did.

Really do not agree, I think this team is better than the Chelsea team that won it 2 years ago, but this United side is no way near as good as the unbeaten Arsenal side that won it a few years back, they were different class

    And if we had..

Alonso & Gerrard this Manchester United would be the best United team to win the league?

If Ronaldo is single handily winning Manchester United the league .. is he better than any of the Liverpool midfield players?

You being a Liverpool fan would 'obviously' hate Manchester United, i take your comments with a pinch of salt.

Utter garbage. Scholes and Carrick's central pairing has been the best in the league this season. Best ball retention, best passing, freeing Ronaldo and Giggs to do their stuff down the wings.

Liverpool have a more dynamic midfield with more bite, and in Europe are better organised,

but since we all know that the problem with the premiership is often an inability to retain the ball well (where a 5yard pass is at times far more important than a 50yard one), Liverpool are behind Man United and Arsenal's midfield in the ability to balance creativity and possession ok

Yes. All of them this season.

Why don't we compare players in isolation?

Has Carrick outscored, out passed or out tackled Alonso? No.

Has Scholes oustcored Gerrard? No. He's certainly out passed him, but is on the verge of a 2nd suspension for shit tackling.

Has Giggs outscored Garcia? Not in all competitions. He now has a single goal more in the premiership however. I'm not sure what they're like on the assists, but Garcia had a fair few before his injury.

So who does that leave? Wouldn't be Ronaldo vs Pennant, would it?

Aye. Great passing... 5 yards square to Ronaldo. I'm sure Xabi could manage that 100 times a game to get his pass percentage up. Not quite as effective if you're giving the ball to Pennant though.
