there's obviously some error in that 108 keeps popping up everywhere.

The rankings should be alright, though.

isn't it worrying that a defender like Alves has the third highest lost balls rate in the league?

and second highest in faults and 3rd highest in yellow cards (12!!!)

If Real Madrid really buy Alves and Alexis they better have back up- They are the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5h highest yellow cards receiving players with Cannavaro and Ramos.

In isolation yes, but that's the thing about stats. It doesn't actually show where he's lost the ball. How many of those are simply crosses that haven't been met by Sevilla players, for example?

Well yes, but that's because of all the dirty, dirty divers Razz His tough tackling will be appreciated when he moves here Smile

I agree with you there Obispo (on the first point).

his presence in several lists (including assists) shows his massive participation in both defence AND attack.

Interesting, watching a Barcelona match one can expect to see Ronaldinho give the ball away every 8 minutes or so.

I wonder if he was playing in England... how 'understanding' would the fans be.

okay so they include any 'goalscoring chance' created?

it's just there's a big grey area with assists, which is why i don't value them too highly as a measurement. if you only say the final pass before a goal, you can get an assist for simply laying the ball off 2ft for someone to blast in a wondergoal but not for an inch perfect cross which someone headed over. but then if you say it's anything that could make a goalscoring chance there's a fine line....was the pass overhit or was the striker too slow?

Which is why stats are overrated.
