Premiership Trio line up Kanouté Bid Empty Premiership Trio line up Kanouté Bid

Post by Tweesus Fri Jun 22, 2007 8:21 am

Newcastle, Portsmouth and Bolton are all keen on bringing Sevilla striker Fredi Kanoute back to the Premiership.

The 29-year-old wants to quit La Liga after two years in Spain and his agent Christophe Magoui told BBC Sport Kanoute wants to move back to England.

Magoui said: "We have interest from the three Premiership clubs but have not had a firm bid from any as of yet.

"But Fredi wants to leave Sevilla and his first choice destination in England and the Premiership."

Kanoute left England in August 2005 after successful spells with West Ham and Tottenham.

He struggled at first in Spain but has just enjoyed a fabulous season at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, scoring 21 goals in the league as Sevilla finished third and retained the Uefa Cup.

Magoui says Kanoute will not stay in Spain and could link up with his former Hammers boss Harry Redknapp at Portsmouth.

"Would Fredi want to link up again with Harry? Sure, why not?" added Magoui.

"No clubs in Spain have registered any interest in Fredi but he has made up his mind that he wants to return to England anyway.

"The cost to sign Fredi will be £6.7m, but so far it is just interest."

    =============================================

Bolton IMO do not need a striker, unless of course they have plans to sell Anelka.

The same is also true of Newcastle - it would make the signing of Viduka somewhat obsolete.

Pompey definately need someone like Kanouté though, although for £6.5m, I'm surprised that Liverpool aren't interested - just for a stop gap until they could possibly sign Villa next summer.

Is this also somewaht bizarre? that he wants to leave Sevilla I mean scratch And he seems to be finding La Liga a breeze! Maybe he wants a new challenge, though to quit just before playing in the CL with Sevilla seems a bad decision in my books study

Sevilla is very beautiful town! And the football is better there as well!!! Why would he leave!!! That would be retarded.

And Bolton!!! How dare a team like Bolton to show interest in him, its insulting for Kanoute, I hate Bolton.

Of the three interested teams Bolton have actually shown the most consistency over the last three or so seasons.

I just saw that apparently Juventus want to buy Martins so maybe Newcastle plan on moving Martins on and bringing in Kanouté - would seem a ridiculous move though.

Bolton may well switch to a flat 4-4-2 under Lee: an anelka-Kanoute partnership on paper, looks frigging sweet!

If Owen or Martins leave, a striker does make sense. Also Big Sam does like a big striker.

Kanoute -- Viduka -- Owen/Martins would be excellent.

Though it'd mean not buying Smith. Crying or Very sad

Kanoute would be a great signing for the bigger clubs like liverpool, manu etc especially for 6.7 Million so why are only newcastle, bolton and portsmouth interested.

torres for 25 million or kanoute for 7 million?

    @FF

Why would you want to drop Anelka into midfield?

    @ parky

I can't see allardyce playing 4-3-3 with this Newcastle squad - Owen is horribly unsuited to it and Kanouté would have to play the same role as Viduka is he is to be fully effective.

Because I think he'd be awesome there, if we could play him in a Zidane like role. And nobody could accuse us of being boring if we play this:

    -------------Teymourian---Diagne-Faye
    ---------------------Anelka

That would just rip apart any defence. PLease let Leee have this brainwave.

Kanoute has more goals in finals and has shown his talent in a wider range of leagues. Ergo, he's better. Henry has never been particularly good outside of home games for Arsenal against poor EPL opposition. International record is mediocre, European record is uninspiring, has no goals in finals, etc. etc.

    ok

Two goals away from equaling Michel Platini's all time French goalscoring record.

Getting back to the topic, I think Kanoute would make a brilliant signing for all the Englsih sides listed above, particulary Newcastle who could do with an extra option upfront, Martins and Owen as short but very quick and direct whilst Viduka is more of a player that can link up the play. It is only press talk and I can't see why he would give up Champions League football, after all he has never experienced it.

Try answering the fucking counter-argument rather than just repeating your own position over and over and over and over and over and over.

One is called debate. The other is called a child sticking their fingers in their ears and shouting 'LALALALALALALA'

Kanouté waited until he was 25 to declare himself for Mali, hoping all the time for a France call up that never came. And it never came because he isn't as good as Henry, Or Trezeguet, or Saha or Anelka.
