Ok, that was a bit misleading. I genuinely support Boro, hence the capitals, and I do know that they are not the most attacking side of the league. But they are an honest club with a good academy, real fans and the absolutely great habit to beat the big clubs on a regular basis, especially at home. I like Arsenal and United because I believe them to be the most attacking sides in a rather defensive ("pragmatic") league, but that's not "real" support like in Boro's case. c) your fans ridicule Stalteri on a regular basis, although he is a cult player and legend here!

Boro's Academy and use of young players is very admirable. But you overrate their fans- other than the big games, the Riverside is notorious for rows and rows of empty seats and lack of atmosphere, especially against the minnows in European competition. Cant blame the Smogcopters from staying at home though, it can get pretty chilly what with the wind coming in off the north sea and up the river ;-)

In response to your points:
a) Cocky is my middle name
b) If all the EPL managers were UFC fighters, The Jolfather/Martin Troll would be the last man standing. Not even Big Sam could take The Largest Head In Football (tm). The Greatest Dutchman since Van Gogh. Even a German must bow down before greatness occasionally.
c) Stalteri is also a bona fide cult hero at the Lane after scoring the winner against West Ham last season.

And finally, you gave the club Jurgen Klinsmann (thanks), but lets not forget the less memorable years when the midfield was patrolled by the honest, but frankly rather impotent abilities of Stefan Freund...

Freund was a Dortmund player, what do you expect? The best thing about him was that he never ever got tired, quite amazing really.

Freund was great. Never forget how he wound the absolute $h!t of Man Utd players at WHL in December 1999. We won 3-1 because he put them off their game so much. I Still laugh at the image of Butt, Keane, Giggs & Scholes chasing him around the pitch!

@ Blut- Dortmund were a massive club in the 90's. I'll never forget Lars Ricken and the game V Juve in 97 (?). Think Spurs probably signed the wrong player though, perhaps in a similar mix up to the one which saw Milan sign Luther Blissett from Watford thinking at the time they were getting John Barnes. Spurs thought they were getting Sammer (best player in the Europe in 1996 easily), but they got Freund ;-)

(In fairness, he wasnt that bad really as TS points out- full of energy and spirit in a poor Spurs side at the time. Shame he couldnt score if his life depended on it though....)

Well his best years were at Barca and Inter, when he played for Real and Milan he was a shadow of his former self.

...The Utd shirt was sold out! They only sell shirts of the big fart here! The Liverpool shirt is just ugly and was only availeble for fat people. And Chelsea is not an option. And always said I support RvP....
