He was the third highest assister in the EPL last season. got as many goals in the league as Babel did in the 05/06 season; two.

Babel's only 20 dear, he will get better, and he's not all about goals, it's his strength, work rate and pace that is key to his game

I just don't like to judge players based on wikipedia, records at a previous club and other WUM's influence

Luis is right , Babel will get better .. if he gets enough games , he can create goals but he will be judged on scoring 1st.

I think they still lack a good defensive midfielder but that lineup could easily finish in the top 4.
Simao is overrated, but nevertheless he's an improvement on Petrov, who though incredibly fast, is equally as inconsistent. I agree that need to replace Lucchin, and they seem to be eyeing up your very Javi Garcia. Not sure if L Garcia will necessarily start, as they also purcahsed that Santana bloke. Kun should also have a good season.
Overrated ?
95 goals for Benfica,in 6 years,230 games, for a winger, must be overrated. (and had a serious injury before WC in Corea and Japan, not finishing the season and loosing the WC)
Yup

I think Atletico's team on paper is the 3rd best in the league. Valencia 2nd and Madrid 4th. No bias here, honestly.

Statistics are nice, but they don't change my opinion on a player. I see little of Portuguese League football so cannot really comment, but I've always been slightly disappointed by his performances in the CL - and moreso for the national side. I've long thought Quaresma should start over him. It will be interesting to see how he does at Atleti.

Re: P-A-T-E-T-I-C-O Cop Simão!
Oh wow...me defending Simão.
He's had little impact on the CL? I can't agree, he's had some good campaigns in Europe, scoring big goals and knocking some quality teams out...always the focal point of the squad and leader.
At national level I'll agree he's been very inconsistent and Quaresma is the better option...but Ricardo will have to prove that with Quality dipslays as Simão has more experience and more team play than Quaresma. Basically, what Simão lacks in quality, he makes up for with his experience and approach to the game. He´s a good and established player now.
It comes down to how much you´re willing to risk when choosing between him and Quaresma... Simão won´t upset balance as much, but he´s less of a threat on certain levels. (Then there´s always Nani... glade we have options).
I personally think he´ll do fine in Madrid and will be a leader within the squad. He´s not the little boy Sporting sold to Barça anymore; he's a man who knows his football and his role within the game. Atlético should be happy they´ve landed him...he´s the kind of standard they should be looking to get.

Yeah on 2nd thought I take that back
Atletico win in midfield, attack is a tie, but their defense and goalkeeper makes them lose out to Madrid's lineup.

RVN>Forlan, but as a whole their front 5 (including garcia not luccin) are pretty solid.
the defense on the other hand is 10x better and casillas>all
