Admittedly, the mess we had in Madrid at the time he signed for Chelsea had a lot to do with his choice. I think he would have chosen us over Chelsea if we had really gone for him. Instead, there was the circus with the elections and everything and Ballack was strongly pressured into finding a new team.

I would be skeptical of signing him nevertheless. Last season with Chelsea wasn't very inspiring and there are doubts about whether he can regain his Bayern Munich form.
