Even though I'm planning to visit Berlin in the East , Düsseldorf in the West and Nuremberg in the South (saying that my Father will be in Berlin + Nuremberg for a conference next week , he really loves Berlin)

blutgraetsche wrote:Very controversial statement, people in the south will most probably disagree. Northern Germany is culturally way more similar to Holland than Southern Germany, that's for sure. Southern Germany is (predominantly) catholic, Northern Germany (predominantly) Protestant (it actually started here). It's traditionally more liberal than the south, Bayern in particular.
It all depends on what you prefer. Most people will prefer the landscape of the south though, the mountains in particular. The weather is usually better also, and the South is richer (wasn't always the case though):

The traditionally most left wing city of all the bigger German cities is Bremen actually. Frankfurt is in the South, traditionally conservative, centre of banking and finance.
Berlin is a traditionally (100-150 years) leftist city as well, great city, would love to live there. My sisters lives there actually.

Dont forget Wolfsburg...this beauty in the centre of die Heimat. Such a wonderfull city
blutgraetsche wrote:Haha...WOlfsburg is no city though, it's a friggin' town. Ugly, but hey, industrial cities have a certain charme as well, you as a Rotterdamer should be able to relate.
Berlin has a rough charme as well, it's not a beauty in particular. It's special, difficult to describe.
