Hmm. I don't mind if he stays or goes. I like him more than most CFC fans, but I wouldn't exactly cry if he left (esp. if we get a fee). He scored a few important goals (CL vs Porto, FA Cup semi), but he doesn't exactly take the team up a level from what we have. I certainly think it's fair to say that Sidwell >> Ballack.

Like I said repeatedly, Ballack made the wrong choice by joining Chelsea. He simply was too greedy, although I do believe that he would have prefered to play for Madrid / in Spain back then under different circumstances.
Him joining Madrid would be great both for him, and for the club. Under Schuster, who knows him and his qualities very well, he'd show what he is really capable of, just like he does for die Mannschaft in almost every match. He still is one of the best central midfielders in the game, a complete player, perfectly two footed, great vision, great shot, good passing, very strong in the air, scoring quite a lot of goals (just look at his international record) and strong defensively as well.
He could play anywhere in the central midfield, DM or AM. He is exactly the player Real need on that position. I agree with otto, would be great if it happens.

Two Wrongs Make a Right is a fallacy in which a person "justifies" an action against a person by asserting that the person would do the same thing to him/her, when the action is not necessary to prevent B from doing X to A. This fallacy has the following pattern of "reasoning":Mexicanbecks wrote:Hardrada wrote:Hmm. I don't mind if he stays or goes. 1. It is claimed that person B would do X to person A.
2. It is acceptable for person A to do X to person B (when A's doing X to B is not necessary to prevent B from doing X to A).
This sort of "reasoning" is fallacious because an action that is wrong is wrong even if another person would also do it.
It should be noted that it can be the case that it is not wrong for A to do X to B if X is done to prevent B from doing X to A or if X is done in justified retribution. For example, if Sally is running in the park and Biff tries to attack her, Sally would eb jsutified in attacking Biff to defend herself. As another example, if country A is planning to invade country B in order to enslave the people, then country B would be justified in launching a pre-emptive strike to prevent the invasion.

Let us not forget that we changed our formation purely to accomodate Ballack (and Shevchenko). If we had played the way otto says Ballack wants to play, he would not have made the starting line-up (Essien is a better CM, and Lampard scores a lot more goals. Where could Ballack play?)
You cannot blame Ballack's poor form on the formation either. Like I said, it was altered to accomodate him, but frankly Jose is unimpressed with his form, and realised there are better players at the club and will change the formation back to one which suits us. Lampard is not as good a player as Ballack, but will produce many more goals. Nobody in the world right now can honestly say that 'Ballack > Essien', which simply leaves the DCM role, but then I guess there would be an uproar from otto and our fellow Germans if Ballack was played there, and does he deserve it after Mikel's excellent form last season, and Makelele's the previous 3?
The only way Ballack can play for us is in a 4-4-2 diamond.

I have no probs S4P2 but still think he should have choosen us rather then you because in our team he would have been the main player and would have suit his game(no offence) but now he should stick with his choice and try to prove his is good enough which he is.

It's fine, but would he have been the main midfielder ahead of Scholes? With Carrick playing as well as he did, would he have necessarily got into the team even? You may have had to change your style like we did simply to accomodate him.

I think it would of been Scholes, Carrick & Ballack with Rooney, Ronaldo & Saha in front of them. Giggs benched but with loads of rotatition.
Hard to say because Ballack turned us down before we signed Carrick.

The germans must be devastated at just how far a renowned world class player's stock has fallen so dramatically in just one season
It's easy to see why they would want him out of chelsea
It's the same reason im disgusted everytime I see flump placed beside gerrard for england

The only way Ballack can play for us is in a 4-4-2 diamond.
There would not have been an uproar if Ballack was played in the defensive midfield, I actually suggested that myself a while ago, after analyisng the Chelsea situation in the Chelsea thread. It would have been a workable solution. Ballack's main problem was that while he was playing at the head of the diamond 4-4-2, and Lampard supposedly on the flanks, Lampard simply lacks the tactical discipline for that. He was cutting in all the time, often playing in the position of Ballack, or even worse, further up front as some kind of centre forward.
Since Lampard is simply weak defensively, almost never winning any tackles, he should have played behind the strikers (he actually is more or less a striker himself, to be perfectly honest), and Ballack behind him. That would have cost Ballack some of his goal threat, but he could have helped the team better, exactly what he did for die Mannschaft already also, playing DM in a double pivot 4-4-2.
Ballack would not have had a problem with that, and the German fans would not have had a problem either. In Germany, the team always comes first, for the fans, coaches and players themselves.

its actually funny..if beckham..apparently the most over-rated player in history..had had such a bad first season at madrid im pretty sure he would have been slated by our german friends here...he even gets slated when hes playing well...
imagine if ballack had been half as successful as beckham in his career...how he would be hyped..
ballack is a loser who has only ever won anything in a bayern side in a weak german league.....leverkusen..3 lost 'finals' in a few weeks....germany..no titles..not even at on home soil in a side playing well..
chelsea would be well advised to take the euros..pack his bags and wave 'auf wiedersehen'

Well trees, by playing in a WC final (or rather taking his team to the final) Ballack has already achieved more on the international level than Beckham could ever hope for. Past, present and future.

one English paper claims that Chelsea have now put a price on Ballack's head
£27 million
would be hilarious if Chelsea even earned as little as £15 million for Ballack considering that Bayern let him go for free
anyway, the paper concluded that the fact Chelsea put a price on his head AT ALL indicated they were happy to negotiate

surely, on that basis Ballack is worth at least 120 million

Ballack's marketing value alone is very high (especially on the most important European market), not even mentioning his footballing ability. Some of you really don't know what you are talking about.
Unfortunately, I don't think that Chelsea will let him leave anytime soon. He just made a contract with Chelsea's sponsor Samsung, for example.
It would be great both for him and Real, but this transfer won't happen unfortunately.
