Top Goal Scoring Midfielder 2007/08

Any suggestions on another midfielder who may compete for this title kindly advise...

I'll start,

I think Ronaldo will take the claim of this title once again, hes looked frightening in pre-season from what i've seen. And he will be boyed with confidence off the back of last season.

Frank Lampard as one of the most improved players in English football over the past three years. He has won the English Premiership twice (with Chelsea, 2004-05 and 2005-06), the F.A. Cup (with Chelsea, 2007) twice the League Cup (with Chelsea, 2005 and 2007), the FA Community Shield (with Chelsea, 2005), and the UEFA Intertoto Cup (with West Ham, 1999).

In November 2005 he was named runner-up to Brazilian midfielder Ronaldinho in the European Footballer of the Year awards. A month later he finished in second place, once again behind Ronaldinho, in the 2005 FIFA World Player of the Year awards. He was also named FWA Footballer of the Year in 2005.

1. Ronaldo
2. Lampard
3. Between Gerrard, Malouda & Arteta

Lampard is all hype, no trousers.

Gerrard hasn't score more than 10 goals a season except for that one year when he largely played in the Lampard position (running from midfield and shooting a lot - basically a striker playing deep).

Ronaldo will not do as well this season.


I'm going for Giggs, just to be controversial.

My Top Goal Scoring Midfielders in 2007/08 :

1. Frank Lampard

2. Cristiano Ronaldo

I'm going to say Ronaldo again, simply because he never looked like he'd stop scoring last season whereas Lampard went on several barren spells, broken only by a penalty or a deflected goal, so i'll definately say Ronaldo.

Gerrard i don't think will even get into double figure tbh

Can't see past Ronaldo, particularly if he takes all of Man Utd's freekicks and penalties this season.

From my team if he doesn't break down like an old Lada, Harry Kewell may pop a few in if he can get into some form (did very well for Australia at the Asia cup)

Will Hleb finally score more than a handful of goals?
Will Nani or Anderson give Ronaldo some competition?
Will a complete unknown come out of nowhere and blow us away?

Malouda and Arteta will get around the 10 mark I think. Arteta got about 5-6 penalties last year.

Scholes and Ballack may get a few depending on where they play.

Does elano score many ???


babel may surpise us all but I doubt it

one of malouda, robben and cole should do well if he sticks to the 4-3-3 but then they are not really midfielders

I think he'll have a pb of 4 league goals.
Hopefully Rosicky can get closeish to double figures, same with cesc.

If you regard Van Persie as a midfielder, then I'm gonna go for him.

Lampard will get around 15, Ronaldo too. Gerrard about 10.

No chance, he would if we played him in his favoured AMC position but with Fabregas and Gilberto being the first choice pairing he will be pushed out to the left or right again.

Rosicky would be a better bet.

Yeah but with Everton in Europe this year I don't see it happening.
Everton have a small squad and the responsibility already is on Arteta to score and perform. If he'll have to do it in europe too then he/they'll burn out or he'll get injured.

Plus he'll have to at least equal last year's performance.

I agree, I think Everton will be Cr@p this year...I'd have to say Ronaldo again, though he'll get less goals than last year.

saha is always injured though

Nani could surprise a few people, but he won't be top.

Ronaldo will get less because...

SAF might rest Ronaldo more this season with the signings of Anderson, Nani and Tevez.

Tevez could become the number 1 freekick taker, depending on how good he is.

Penalty takers - Saha, Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez?

He'll take penalties.

Free kicks he may lose to Hargreaves or Tevez but he only scored one last season.

Van Persie plays upfront half the time so yeah, Ronaldo starting position is right wing he just gets forward a lot, i don't understand how hes not a midfielder and then Gerrard is, since they basically play the same position.

Lampard as usuall will top score from midfield. I can't see Ronaldo clocking another 17

People will laugh at me because I know he gets disrespected on here - but I reckon Jermaine Jenas can get 10-12 goals if he gets a full season.

His strike rate improved to 1 in 4 last year over the year before (6 in 25 apps - no pens), and if he improves again, who knows?

but with torres 'winning them / diving like a bitch' we may just get a few more this year
